A note from the publisher
his summer, London welcomes the world for the
Tsecond time, and there are undoubtedly few occasions
that are as exciting, inviting and inclusive as Festival 2012
and the Paralympic Games.
The entire London Planner publishing team would also
like to extend its very own personal welcome to each of
our readers, irrespective of the nature of your visit to the
capital, with this third and final celebratory souvenir edition of the summer.
London Planner is VisitBritain’s and London & Partner’s official monthly guide to
the capital. It has been a treasured companion to visitors from all over the world
for almost 30 years, with the last five of these under the management of Morris
Visitor Publications (MVP).
MVP understands very well how to welcome our readers – not only to
London, but to 67 other major destinations around the globe, through our
international network of magazines, guides and maps. Generating accurate,
timely and reliable information for visitors is what we do every day of every
week of every year.
But no other year is as unique as 2012, and no other city in the world is as
thrilling, vibrant and cosmopolitan as London. This is, without doubt, the biggest
year in London’s recent history. And in support of the biggest Paralympic Games
to date, London Planner has selected an official poster by British contemporary
artist Bob and Roberta Smith to feature on our front cover.
For the London Planner team summer 2012 has been a once-in-a-lifetime
experience, just as we hope it will be for all visitors to our city. Enjoy reading
this latest special edition, use it to get the most out of your stay and keep it as
a souvenir of what you saw and experienced during your visit to London in our
special year of celebration.
