Marshall 1962 Willen Hospice Celebration “Bluesbreaker” combo
The sound that launched the British blues invasion.
The Bluesbreaker, which derives its nickname from being used by Eric Clapton with John Mayall & The
Bluesbreakers, is credited with delivering "the sound that launched British blues-rock in the mid-1960s. It
was Marshall's first combo amplifier, and was described as "arguably the most important [amplifier] in the
company's history" and “the definitive rock amplifier”.
With 30W output and 2x12 speakers, it produces a gutsy bass and vibrant top, coupled with overall natural
warmth.
The Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker all valve combo amplifier is based on the JTM45, widely considered to be
the definitive '60s Marshall. With 30 watts of power connected to a pair of Celestion G12M-25 “Greenback”
speakers, a footswitchable tremolo effect you'll command the legendary guitar tones of '60s rock legends.
The 1962 Bluesbreaker's sonic sweetness comes courtesy of a GZ34 valve rectifier, which imparts the
natural sustain and compression the JTM45 was famed for. Simply put, you'll love how it sounds - and feels
- to play through the Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker valve combo amplifier. The amp controls are Speed,
Intensity, Presence, Bass, Middle, Treble, Volume I, and Volume 2. There are four quarter inch input jacks;
two for each Volume Control. The amp has two input channels which share the same EQ, and Presence
settings. Channel 1 has more treble response than Channel 2; Channel 2 on the other hand is the channel you
use for Tremolo. You can also use a short quarter inch patch cable and use both channels with a single guitar
by patching input Channel 2 into input Channel 1.
This one-off 1962G-01 Bluesbreaker combo has been hand built for Willen Hospice here at Marshalls
Custom Shop in Bletchley, Milton Keynes and features a Gold plated Chassis, original “Bluesbreaker Cloth”
speaker grille and is hand finished in classic Black Levant vinyl covering.
A truly unique amplifier and often cited as Jim Marshall OBE’s proudest and favourite designs, this
combination Amplifier is the ultimate Marshall collectable.
