Promoting Oral Health<br />

<strong>Colgate</strong>’s most comprehensive oral health initiative, “Bright <strong>Smile</strong>s, Bright Futures,” promotes<br />

oral health education and prevention in communities worldwide. The Company<br />

distributes <strong>to</strong>othpaste, <strong>to</strong>othbrushes, videos, books, software and interactive activities in<br />

over 30 languages for use in <strong>the</strong> classroom or at home. Volunteer dentists visit local communities<br />

<strong>to</strong> conduct free dental screenings, distribute educational materials and educate<br />

children and <strong>the</strong>ir families about <strong>the</strong> importance of maintaining good oral health. “Bright<br />

<strong>Smile</strong>s, Bright Futures” has reached 650 million children in 80 countries since 1991,<br />

50 million in 2010 alone, and seeks <strong>to</strong> reach a billion children by 2020.<br />

<strong>Colgate</strong> is a founding and principal sponsor of <strong>the</strong> Global Child Dental Fund. The<br />

group builds on <strong>the</strong> achievements of <strong>the</strong> Global Child Dental Health Taskforce, which<br />

<strong>Colgate</strong> established in partnership with <strong>the</strong> <strong>World</strong> Health Organization with a goal <strong>to</strong><br />

eradicate dental cavities in children globally by 2026. Since 2006, <strong>the</strong> Taskforce has<br />

benefited over 20 million children in 13 countries, including one million children in China<br />

and 1.3 million in Brazil.<br />
