Colgate is committed to conducting its business in an environmentally
sound manner. As discussed in the Performance section, exciting innovations
and opportunities in new products and packaging continue to reduce
the environmental footprint of the products Colgate consumers trust.
Colgate’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its 60+
manufacturing operations around the world means more than just recycling
paper and reducing waste.
After setting ambitious 2002 to 2010 goals to reduce energy use,
greenhouse gas emissions, water use and wastewater loading (defined
as chemical oxygen demand), Colgate people put plans in place to
meet or exceed the goals. From innovative energy-efficient manufacturing
processes to new cleaning methods and water use efficiency
technologies, Colgate people have worked to reduce the company’s
environmental footprint.
