Band Auditions
As many of you would know, our
conductors, Mark Brown, Craig
Driscoll and Michael Thrift have been
auditioning Year 7, Year 8, strings and new
students recently. Many band parents stepped up
to assist in the smooth running of the mammoth
exercise. I would like to thank Nir Yaffe, Sibila
Thompson, Kim Healy, Teresa Kwan, Julie
Separovich and of course, Christina de Podolinsky
for their time. It was very much appreciated!
‐ Nicola Elliot ‐ Enrolments and Auditions
Over 190 students have auditioned since term 4,
2010, a HUGE thanks to Nicola Elliot who has
contributed many, many hours to co‐ordinate a
well planned audition schedule as well as enrolling
60 new students to the band program. An
outstanding job!
Band list have been posted on the band
noticeboard outside the band room (above the
canteen in the music corridor) If you cannot see
your name on the list please speak to your band
director.
New Parents Information Night and
The New Parents Information Night is next
Monday 14 February 8.00pm in the hall.
Band Polo Shirts and 2nd hand blazers will be
available for sale (bring cheque books).
Big Band Bash: The first event for 2011 will be the
Big Band Bash on Monday 7 March, starting at
6.00pm with the Jazz Club in the common room,
(bring a picnic basket) and the main Concert
commencing at 7.00pm in the MSC hall. All
ensembles will be performing.
Please note this is a change of date and venue.
Band communication: Currently the band
committee is in the process of sending emails with
calendars and invoices to all band members. Email
and The Weekly Pines are our primary form of
communication. If people are not receiving emails
from the program, check your junk mail and
contact Christina at mscbands@people.net.au.
2011 Band Fees: Invoices for semester one were
emailed this week. Semester one fees are due on
February 25th. Everyone who pays before this
date receives a $15 deduction in fees. If you do
need longer to pay, please email our Assistant
Treasurer, Jill Deere at jdeere@bigpond.net.au.
Band fees are payable by semester, and the
second semester fees will fall due at the beginning
of Term 3. Your prompt payment will be much
appreciated.
