Our lists have greater than 95% relevance to the subject
oil sample is detected and an output current proportional thereto is produced. This output current is
amplified and drives a meter which displays the skin type of the subject. Calibration means and a
method for calibrating the meter utilizing an oil-free probe are disclosed, as well as a means for
adjusting the bandwidth of the output of the amplifier to coincide with the meter.
US Patent No: 4678292
Curved structure and method for making same
A plurality of thin flexible sheet ribs are secured to thin flexible sheet stringer members to form a
distortable frame structure. One edge of the ribs lie in a curved surface such as a parabolic
cylindrical surface. A thin sheet of boron-silicate glass, preferably formed with a second surface
mirror, is annealed and then bent at room temperature to abut the edges of the ribs lying in the
curved surface and is retained in place by ribs at opposite edges of the sheet. The inherent strength
of the glass under stress, when bent, provides structural rigidity to the combined elements.
US Patent No: 4725590
Method of relieving pain and inflammatory conditions employing substituted salicylamides
A topically and systemically administered anti-inflammatory composition for human and for
veterinary consumption which comprises compounds of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein
R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are defined hydrocarbon attachments and Y is --OH or a phenolic
ester group derived from the reaction of such --OH group with a carboxylic acid halide or anhyride.
In typical compounds covered by said general formula (a) R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2 is 5,n-octanoyl, Y
is hydroxy and R.sub.3 is p-trifluoromethylphenyl; (b) R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2 is 5,n-decanoyl, Y is
hydroxy and R.sub.3 is benzothiazol-2-yl and (c) R.sub.1 is H, R.sub.2 is 5,n-decanoyl, Y is
acryloyloxy and R.sub.3 is p-nitrophenyl. The resulting compositions take the form of ointments,
solid sticks, tablets, capsules, injectable solutions and suspensions, ear drops, eye drops, nose
drops, douches, suppositories, enemas, liniments, gels, lotions, shampoos, soaps, creams, solutions,
aerosols, pads, plasters, bandages, dressings and catamenial and non-cateminal tampons. The
compositions are useful in relieving pain or inflammation as well as microbial infections in
mammals when applied topically to the skin or affected organs or when administered systemically.
US Patent No: 4774039
