Radio
I wake in the morning to the UK theme
tune to Radio 4 and from that time I listen
to Farming Today followed by Today. On the
way home I listen to Radio 4’s PM for an
update on world events although I try to
catch the local weather forecast on Manx
Radio at 10 past the hour.
TV
I regularly watch the BBC at 10pm which
you can now catch via their News 24 station
on Sky. Other shows which I watch for news
include The Money Programme and
Panorama.
Broadsheets
I hate tabloids so I read The Daily Telegraph
on a daily basis and the Financial Times
when the opportunity arises. For local news
I am an avid reader of the Isle of Man
Examiner on a Tuesday and the Courier on
a Thursday.
Magazines
Although I have subscriptions to
professional journals such as Professional
Manager and Management Today I also
counter balance this with subscriptions to
Country Living and Good Housekeeping.
Books
I read books for a living and to relax. In
terms of professional development I am
reading Richard Pring on the Philosophy
of Education and to relax I have just
finished a Tom Clancy, The Bear and the
Dragon.
I also like Jack Higgins especially those
about Sean Dillon but I was very sad when
he killed off Det. Sup. Hannah Bernstein.
Adverts
I hate adverts and whenever possible fastforward
through them.
Teaching Students
Teaching students, most of whom are
managers from a cross-section of
businesses throughout the Island, at both
the Isle of Man College and the
International Business School gets one a
unique perspective on the local news items.
