Accounting Cadetships<br />

An Accounting Cadetship offers students the opportunity to commence employment with a major Accounting/Business Firm<br />

whilst studying at University. Two such companies are KPMG and Ernst and Young. The information below provides details<br />

about the program and the application dates<br />

KPMG : KPMG’s Cadetship program information sessions – Our Cadetship program provides career opportunities for school<br />

leavers. It’s a great way to combine work and study whilst exploring exciting future career opportunities at KPMG. If you would<br />

like to find out more information, please join us at our Cadetship program information session.<br />

Information sessions are on both Monday 23 <strong>May</strong> and Tuesday 7 June from 6.00-7.30pm at KPMG, Ground Floor, 147 Collins<br />

Street, Melbourne. To register your interest in attending please email gradmelb@kpmg.com.au or phone 1800 000 479. Dress is<br />

smart casual or in your College uniform.<br />

Joining Ernst & Young : Students can apply when they are in Year 12 or in their first year of university if they are<br />

completing a single degree in Business or Commerce with an accounting major. They need to be an Australian or New Zealand<br />

citizen, an Australian permanent resident. International students are not eligible for the Cadet Program. Go to www.ey.com/au/<br />

careers for further details. Melbourne applications open on 9 <strong>May</strong> and close on 22 June <strong>20</strong><strong>11</strong>. Sydney applications open on 23<br />

JMC Academy Course Information Day<br />

Students will be able to learn about career options and courses available in the following areas: audio engineering and sound<br />

production, film and television production, digital media and 3D animation, popular music and performance, and entertainment<br />

business management. The day will be run on Saturday 28 <strong>May</strong> between <strong>11</strong>am and 2pm at 171 Bank St, South Melbourne. To<br />

What About the Entertainment Industry<br />

For students who love the glamour of the catwalk or the exciting world of DJs and promoters With the William Angliss TAFE<br />

course in Entertainment Operations they can learn how to produce, coordinate and promote live gigs like fashion parades, music<br />

festivals and club DJ events – working hands-on with industry professionals. The course takes six months, with course<br />

Unit 3 Exam Preparation Lectures<br />

An intensive program that offers students an in depth preparation for the examinations. They will provide them with a review<br />

and extension of the material taught at school and potential examination questions. They will also receive detailed notes that<br />

include all of the relevant theory, fully worked examples and take home questions. Brochures can be collected from the careers<br />

office.<br />

Interested in Media, Advertising and Public Relations<br />

Swinburne University are offering a new Bachelor of Professional Communication starting in <strong>20</strong>12. The degree focuses on the key<br />

areas of media, advertising and public relations and is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to use<br />

communication as a strategic tool to help businesses achieve their objectives. The degree offers a business and professional<br />

focus, providing students with employment opportunities in industries such as corporate communication and marketing. Please<br />

Love Sport, Science and Maths<br />

Victoria University offers the only engineering course in Victoria that specialises in sports. Through their three year Bachelor of<br />

Engineering Science (Sports Engineering), students gain professional skill and training to: design sports equipment and<br />

instrumentation and work on solutions to enhance athlete performance and minimise the risk of sports injury. The course covers<br />

New Optometry Program Offered by Deakin University<br />

Optometrists work in a wide range of careers in public or private eye care, including practice ownership, research, academia or<br />

industry. There are several recognised specialties within optometry including contact lenses, low vision, paediatrics, behavioural<br />

optometry and as an associated ophthalmic surgical practice. Deakin University’s new Bachelor of Vision Science/ Master of<br />

Optometry aims to produce quality work ready optometrists who can work in either private or public eye care, research, industry<br />

Swinburne University Aviation Industry Careers Expo<br />

Swinburne University are hosting an Aviation Careers Expo on Monday <strong>20</strong> June at their Advanced Technologies Centre, Hawthorn<br />

Campus, starting at 6.45pm. The Expo will provide an insight into the exciting careers in the aviation and airline management<br />

industry. You and your parents will be able to meet representatives from key aviation organisations, including Thales and the Civil<br />

Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), plus major airlines and airports. You will also be able to attend information sessions of your<br />
