Buffs In Action (BIA) News

Carnival: Spring has sprung and the BIA has
begun planning the elementary carnival. Mark your
calendars and save the May 7th date. If you are
interested in volunteering your time or talents (art
or construction) or if you would like more information
contact carnival coordinator, Liz Coulter at
jl-coulter@hotmail.com (we still need volunteers).
Can‛t help but want to contribute We are in need
of prize supplies such as 2 liter bottles of pop or
juice/lemonade, boxes of movie-style candy and bigger
prizes appropriate for kids ages kindergarten
through 6th grade.
The BIA is looking for community members and
business partners to help us with this endeavor. If
you would like to sponsor a booth, provide prizes
or provide a monetary gift to support this event
please contact Kim Wilkens at kwilkens@nctc.net
or 468-6706.
Some of the activities planned: screaming chicken
game, fortune teller, cotton candy, Blue Moon photo
booth, prize give-aways throughout the night, educational
booths, concessions and so much more. Join
us for the fun!
Box Tops for Education: The BIA‛s have challenged
each classroom to a Box Top Collection Contest
to see which classroom can collect the largest
number of Box Tops. When a classroom hits 500 Box
Tops, they will be rewarded with a party of their
choice (popcorn, nacho, root beer floats, sundaes).
The contest will run through April with the class
collecting the largest number of Box Tops receiving
an extra 15 minute recess. The winning classroom
teacher will also be awarded books to add to their
classroom library. Help your child‛s class come out on
top by sending your Box Tops to school. Remember,
contest deadline is April 30th.
Treats for Troops Update: The BIA would like
to extend a big “Thank You” to Steve VanMeter and
the Sons of the American Legion for paying for all
of our Treats for Troops boxes to be sent over seas.
With their help we were able to send 17 gift boxes
during the holiday season to service personnel with
ties to Gibbon. The American Legion‛s support and
Mr. VanMeter‛s assistance was greatly appreciated.
Also, thank you to those of you that sent “treats” to
school; without your generosity this important giving
tradition wouldn‛t have been possible.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Each year the
BIA celebrates the elementary staff at Gibbon by
hosting a luncheon. This luncheon is a great opportunity
to tell the staff “thank you” for their hard
work throughout the school year. Please take the
time to bring a tasty salad or delicious dessert.
Mark your calendar for May 4th, please have
food dishes at school by 10:30 a.m.
Remember to keep collecting your Campbell‛s labels
(remember the UPC symbol) and Box Tops.

Gibbon Boosters

Congratulations to all of those lucky winners from our raffle drawings. We would like to thank those of you who participated.
Special thanks to those who donated the great prizes.
The Boosters will once again be offering scholarship opportunities for one senior boy and one senior girl. Applications
may be obtained at the high school office or on the school’s website. The application deadline is April 16.
Mark your calendars for some upcoming dates and great times the Boosters will be hosting. We will be doing the ever
popular Road Rally over the 4 th of July. Watch for updates through the Gibbon Chamber for the date and time of the event.
On July 10 prepare yourselves for a great night of golf at the Valley View Golf Club north of town. Please watch for upcoming
ads and flyers on both of these events. These events are a great way to raise money while having fun. Support your
local Boosters.
