GIBBON LEADERSHIP PLANNING RETREAT<br />

GOALS<br />

I. The leadership team will address current facilities issues.<br />

A. Short-term goals (1 year or less)<br />

1. Dispose <strong>of</strong> the former facility.<br />

2. Explore ways to expand use <strong>of</strong> the auditorium.<br />

3. Take appropriate steps to expand the playground.<br />

B. Medium-term goals (1-3 years)<br />

1. Address the bus barn situation.<br />

C. Long-term goals (3-5 years)<br />

1. Pave the rest <strong>of</strong> the parking lot.<br />

II. The leadership team will strive to improve its organization and communication.<br />

A. Short-term goals (1 year or less)<br />

1. Expand work done by committees (opportunity to ask questions and listen).<br />

2. Adopt the policy manual.<br />

3. Implement additional retreats (next one will be held in June 2010).<br />

B. Medium-term goals (1-3 years)<br />

1. The leadership team will form a study group to examine high performance schools.<br />

III. The leadership team will continue to improve curriculum and instruction.<br />

1. Look into hiring a reading specialist.<br />

IV. The leadership team will strive to be fiscally responsible.<br />

1. Maintain the lowest levy possible.<br />

2010 Gibbon Football Summer Schedule<br />

With the start <strong>of</strong> the football season approaching quickly, I would like to provide you with a list <strong>of</strong> important dates so you<br />

may plan accordingly. A majority <strong>of</strong> the scheduled items take place in the summer. A competitive football team requires a<br />

solid commitment from the coaches, players, and parents during the summer months. The work we put in during the <strong>of</strong>fseason<br />

will benefit us in the fall. All <strong>of</strong> the items listed below are optional, but highly recommended. Remember, Today’s<br />

preparation determines tomorrow’s success.<br />

Tuesday, May 4- Player Meeting, 5:00 PM in Coach McLaughlin’s room. This is to discuss our team fundraiser. The fundraiser<br />

will fund most, if not all, <strong>of</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> the camps we go to.<br />

Wednesday, May 12- Parent Meeting, 7:00 PM in High <strong>School</strong> Commons<br />

Monday, May 31- Summer Weightlifting Begins (Open to all Gibbon students)<br />

Weight room will be open Monday-Friday from 7:00-9:00 AM and 6:30-8:30 PM<br />

Monday, May 31- Open Conditioning Begins (Open to all Gibbon students) 8:00-8:30 PM<br />

Sunday, June 13- Wednesday, June 16 – UNK Team Camp – tentative<br />

Sunday, July 18- Wednesday, July 21- Gibbon Football Camp<br />

Sunday, July 19- 7:00-8:30 PM on Football Field<br />

Monday, July 20- Wednesday, July 22 - 9:30-11:00 AM on Football Field<br />

Monday, July 19- Wednesday, July 21- Gibbon “Mini Buff” Football Camp - 8:00-9:00 AM on Football Field -Registration<br />

information will be sent home towards the end <strong>of</strong> the school year.<br />

Saturday, July 24- Minden 7 on 7 Camp<br />

Monday, August 2- Football Specific Conditioning Begins<br />

Monday, August 9- Football Practice Begins (Two a Days)<br />

Thursday, August 26- Football Scrimmage, 7:00 PM on Football Field<br />

Friday, September 3- Game @ Ainsworth, 7:00 PM
