Share the important stuff about credit cards<br />

Avoid falling behind on your payments<br />

Be really interested in interest rates, because whatever you don’t pay off<br />

on your credit card is charged at 24% per annum.<br />

Pay off as much as you can every month<br />

You can pay the minimum of S$20 (or 3% of your outstanding balance,<br />

whichever is higher), within 20 days from your statement date. Whatever<br />

is unp<strong>ai</strong>d will be charged at 24% per annum. Missing a monthly payment<br />

makes it harder for you to catch up the following month, so make it a<br />

habit to put aside money for your card bill each month.<br />

Remember the due date<br />

Singapore is a fine city and this is no exception. If you’re late with<br />

payment, you’ll be charged 5% of the minimum monthly repayment (or<br />

S$50, whichever is higher). The moment you get your statement, key the<br />

due date into your calendar or mobile.<br />

Keep it safe<br />

It costs S$30 to replace a lost card, so always keep your credit card in a<br />

safe place.<br />

Above all else<br />

If your payments are becoming unmanageable, you should stop using<br />

your card until you get your finances under control. Resist the temptation<br />

to max out your card.<br />

Credit Standing<br />

Please note that non-repayment(s) or overdue repayment(s) of credit<br />

card bills will be reflected in your credit report and could adversely affect<br />

you when you apply for a new loan such as credit cards, car loans and<br />
