depend<strong>in</strong>g on species and<br />
liv<strong>in</strong>g conditions; capable<br />
of fast<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>fectious<br />
state for several years<br />
Preventive measures:<br />
- Indoors: Soft tick<br />
monitor<strong>in</strong>g and control<br />
with acaricide barrier<br />
spray. Use treated<br />
mosquito nets<br />
- Never camp <strong>in</strong> houses<br />
where livestock are kept<br />
- Outdoors: Use <strong>in</strong>sect<br />
repellent and permethr<strong>in</strong>treated<br />
uniform; acaricide<br />
barrier (with Propoxur<br />
(=B5)), avoidance of old<br />
animal stables,<br />
caravansaries, etc.
