program. Sylvia, a sophomore in<br />

high school, needs <strong>to</strong> raise $7,000<br />

participate in <strong>the</strong> program. She still<br />

needs about a third <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> money.<br />

She has been actively working<br />

<strong>to</strong>wards her goal all year, with a table<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Old Time Holiday weekend, a<br />

car wash, a yard sale, and a spaghetti<br />

supper.<br />

<strong>the</strong> Robby Thatcher Memorial Fund<br />

will be held Saturday, May 15th,<br />

Knuckleheads Bar & Grille, 85<br />

Macarthur Drive in New Bedford.<br />

Music will be provided by Shipyard<br />

Wreck and Craig deMelo. Tickets are<br />

Robby Thatcher was a senior at<br />

<strong>Fairhaven</strong> High School when he lost<br />

his battle with leukemia at 18 years<br />

old on November 28, 2003. In his<br />

memory we give scholarships at<br />

<strong>Fairhaven</strong> High School, New Bedford<br />

High School and are planning <strong>to</strong> add<br />

one at Greater New Bedford Voca -<br />

tional this year.<br />

ing diseases. We have partnered with<br />

<strong>the</strong> Jimmy Fund <strong>to</strong> help a help a<br />

at Christmastime at <strong>the</strong> Jimmy Fund<br />

Clinic, Bos<strong>to</strong>n Children’s Hospital,<br />

and Hasbro Children's Hospital. We<br />

continue <strong>to</strong> support local food<br />

pantries and organizations.<br />

Women’s 5K<br />

The Greater New Bedford Track<br />

Club’s 31st Annual Hazelwood<br />

Women’s 5K Run/Walk will be held<br />

on Sunday, May 16, 20<strong>10</strong>, at <strong>10</strong> a.m.<br />

at Hazelwood Park (553 Brock Ave.)<br />

in New Bedford and will benefit<br />
