Call for Pictures<br />

The Mattapoisett Road Race<br />

Committee recently met <strong>to</strong> begin <strong>the</strong><br />

planning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 40th Road Race <strong>to</strong> be<br />

held on Sat., July 3. (not <strong>the</strong> 4th this<br />

year). Since 1971, all monies from<br />

this non-pr<strong>of</strong>it race are given <strong>to</strong><br />

scholarship awards for ORRHS<br />

graduates.<br />

Committee member, Caty Furman,<br />

showed <strong>the</strong> attendees a festive red,<br />

white, and blue t-shirt designed<br />

especially for this special run.<br />

The committee is collecting<br />

pictures and news articles from <strong>the</strong><br />

past 40 years regarding <strong>the</strong> Road<br />

Race and would welcome any<br />

The Dartmouth His<strong>to</strong>rical<br />

Commission will again sponsor<br />

Celebrate Dartmouth Day, this year<br />

on Saturday, May 15, from <strong>10</strong> am <strong>to</strong><br />

4 pm in partnership with preserva -<br />

tion and conservation organizations<br />

within <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn. The Commission<br />

invites you <strong>to</strong> spend a day seeing<br />

what makes Dartmouth special. This<br />

is a great event for families, and is<br />

entirely FREE.<br />

Maps and event explanations will<br />

be available at Southworth Library,<br />

732 Dartmouth St., on <strong>the</strong> morning <strong>of</strong><br />

May 15, starting at <strong>10</strong> am. Families<br />

will be able <strong>to</strong> take <strong>the</strong>se maps and<br />

find <strong>the</strong>ir way <strong>to</strong> event locations<br />

around <strong>to</strong>wn, --- places <strong>the</strong>y may not<br />

have visited.<br />

Rain or shine, it will be a great day<br />

<strong>to</strong> get out and discover something<br />

new in Dartmouth.<br />

we’re looking for <strong>the</strong> most creative<br />

pho<strong>to</strong> that highlights <strong>the</strong> event.<br />

Plant Sale<br />

The Garden Club <strong>of</strong> Buzzards<br />

Bay will hold its annual plant sale<br />

on Sat., 5/15 at St. Mary’s Church<br />

Parish Center, 783 Dart mouth St.,<br />

So. Dartmouth, from 9 a.m. <strong>to</strong> noon.<br />

Plants on sale will include<br />

perennials, interesting annuals,<br />

geraniums, succulents, miniature<br />

desert gardens (pre-planted<br />

collections <strong>of</strong> succulents), special<br />

boxwood cultivars, heirloom<br />

<strong>to</strong>ma<strong>to</strong>es, herbs, Stepables (plants<br />

that <strong>to</strong>lerate foot traffic), many<br />

varieties <strong>of</strong> coleus, pre-planted patio<br />

pots, and more.<br />

Last year’s plant sale proceeds<br />

were distributed <strong>to</strong> five groups: two<br />

nearby environmental conservation<br />

organizations, a local museum, a<br />

welfare organization, and a police<br />

department for landscaping.<br />
