WHEN YOU ARRIVE 1 Head to the South-East end of the Stadium (over the South Bridge) 2 Upon arrival, head to the main event HQ area opposite block J/K. Adult runners do not need to check-in but please ensure that you bring your race t-shirt, running number and wristband, that you should’ve received in the post with you on the day. We will have some spares available but please be advised that numbers are limited. Anyone who has raised £500 or more in sponsorship will be able to exchange their normal running number for a special gold number available from Race HQ. 3 All runners aged 14 or under that are entering the children’s race need to check-in with a parent/guardian at the registration desks in Race HQ to collect their special bib and running number. Please note that bibs and race numbers WILL NOT be distributed in advance of race day and must be collected on the day. 4 The bag-check lorry will be open from 9.45am - 11.45am, if you have a bag that you’d like to drop off before the race. 5 Check in for the children’s race will open at 9.45am and will close at 10.45am, ahead of the pre-race warm-up in front of the main stage area at 11am. The race will then commence at 11.15am. Children aged 6 and under should complete one lap of the stadium accompanied by an adult and children aged 7-14 two laps unaccompanied. 6 Adult runners should arrive in time for the pre-race warm-up by the main stage at 12noon. The race will then commence at 12.15pm. 7 Once you have completed your run, marshals will be on hand to direct you to the holding area where you can either collect your medal and certificate (junior runners) or medal and goody bag (adult runners). 8 Feel free to stick around and enjoy some of the entertainment on offer post-race, or head up to the Royal Oak Suite on Club Level if you have pre-booked to watch the live screening of the Gunners’ Premier League clash against QPR. Remember too that the Armoury store will be offering a 10% discount on items, while you can also enjoy 20% off our brand-new self-guided stadium tours until 4pm on race day upon production of a race medal. 9 All race entertainment on the podium level will come to a close at approximately 1.45pm.
RACE PREPARATION A few things to remember for your run… 1 Eat lots of carbohydrates (sugars, oats, nuts, brown rice, brown pasta, potato) between now and Saturday. Carbohydrates are a great source of energy and the more you have in your blood and muscles the longer you’ll have before muscle fatigue kicks-in. 2 Don’t have a late night on Friday - no matter how good an idea it may seem at the time, it will come back to bite you come Saturday morning! 3 Prepare your kit the night before! You should have received an official Save the Children t-shirt within your race pack so don’t forget to wear this on the day and pin your unique running number to the front. You will also have a wristband with 10 tabs to wear on the day – remove one of these tabs every time you complete a lap of the stadium! 4 Warm-up. Get to the stadium in good time for the race warm-up at 12noon and let the experts put you through your paces. This will also reduce your risk of injury. 5 Pace yourself! Although there will be a prize for the fastest male and female to complete the ten laps, not everyone is a budding Theo Walcott! If you’ve been training properly in advance of race day, you should have found a pace that suits you, so stick to it and remember it’s the taking part that counts! 6 Bring something dry that you can change into once you’ve completed your run. Your body cools down rapidly after exercise so a jumper or warm jacket will prevent you from feeling the chill! There will be a bag drop truck on site on the day where you can leave any personal belongings. 7 Bring your friends and family! There will be plenty of room on the day for spectators so ask a few familiar faces to come down and cheer you on – it really can make all the difference! And most of all… have fun!
