NEW PROGRAMS ENDOWMENT FUND PROGRAMS James J. Davis, the fraternity’s first chief executive with the new title of Director General, a true humanitarian and visionary, set out to build a city that would brighten the futures of thousands of children in need all across North America. His efforts resulted in the founding of Mooseheart Child City & School in 1913. Davis also believed the fraternity needed to care for its aged members who were having trouble making ends meet. And, in the fall of 1922, Moosehaven, the “City of Contentment,” was opened. June 23, 1919, James J. Davis announced the establishment of an Endowment Fund, saying, “I hope some day it will be large enough so that the income from it will in great measure support Mooseheart.” In 1932, the Endowment Fund was expanded to include Moosehaven. Donors Circle Your individual cumulative endowment fund donations made to Moose Charities are recognized with a distinctive pin and your name will be listed on the Moose Charities website. Cradle Fundraiser Every October, the fraternity celebrates Mooseheart Founders Day. The Cradle Fundraiser is a perfect opportunity to raise significant funds for the Mooseheart/ Moosehaven Endowment Fund by asking every Lodge and Chapter to participate in this month-long event each October. Rocker Fundraiser February 2013 - we are introducing the “Rocker” fundraiser. What a great opportunity to help increase the Mooseheart/Moosehaven Endowment Fund. Remembering our golden-agers during the month we celebrate Valentine’s Day by asking every Lodge and Chapter to participate in this month-long event each February. NAME: NA NAM MOOSEHEART/MOOSEHAVEN ENDOWMENT FUND MOOSE MOOSEHEART/MOOSEHAVEN ENDOWMENT FUND MOOS NAME: Jim & Kate T. Davis knew from the beginning that education was the key to success for every teenager moving on to a life of further independence. He knew Mooseheart was not just a place to provide food, clothing, and shelter to families, but a positive learning environment whereby knowledge gained equaled increased opportunity. Education opens doors to new experiences, expands career choices, and teaches our youth to be disciplined in decision-making. The current school facility was built in 1954. It is in dire need of a major facelift. Two separate fundraising programs are now in place, with one common goal, to raise $10,000,000. The existing 77,000 square feet of the current school building requires total renovation. Renovation plans include building an additional 15,000 square feet of new office, classroom, and a multi-purpose gymnasium/auditorium. For a limited time, individuals can become an Honorary Member of the Class of 2013 at Mooseheart High School for its Centennial Year. Different levels of giving denote different recognition gifts. MOOSEHEART/MOOSEHAVEN ENDOWMENT FUND MOOSEH Everyone who donates to this fundraising campaign will be included on an Educating Minds, Building Dreams Donor Wall of Honor in the new main lobby. Naming opportunities exist for classrooms, offices, both libraries, all three wings of the school and areas within the new addition. This campaign will be open to corporate and private nonmember donors as well. Making this renovation project a reality means we have prepared an educational path for the next 12,000 Mooseheart students to take their journey and succeed. 51
