To prepare students to meet the State <strong>of</strong> Florida mandated requirements to become a licensed Facial Specialist, as well as a pr<strong>of</strong>essional Makeup Artist.<br />

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION<br />
The Comprehensive Facial and Makeup program is designed for students to achieve the highest quality skills in the field <strong>of</strong> Skin Care and the creative techniques<br />
that are demanded <strong>of</strong> today’s Makeup Artists. This course will teach you the beauty secrets that all pr<strong>of</strong>essional Makeup Artists and Skin Care Specialists should<br />
know. Students undergo extensive classroom and practical training and will have the opportunity to use their skin care skills in a real life spa setting; ensuring<br />
they are fully prepared to enter the job market with the skill and confidence <strong>of</strong> a pr<strong>of</strong>essional. They will also have the chance to build a portfolio in order to<br />

PROGRAM OUTLINE<br />
CFM100 ETHICS IN BUSINESS SKILLS AND CAREER PLANNING<br />
(27 Hours)<br />
Will learn how to achieve business skills by career planning in the skin care field, the basic principles <strong>of</strong> selling products, customer relations and telephone<br />
techniques.<br />
CFM101 SANITATION AND STERILIZATION<br />
(50 Hours/140 Services)<br />
Infection and disease control for the Makeup Artist and Skin Care Specialist; the methods <strong>of</strong> equipment sterilization, cleaning, health and safety in practical use<br />
and salon operations – as per the Department <strong>of</strong> Business and Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Regulation (DBPR), safety procedures are part <strong>of</strong> the on-going curriculum throughout<br />
all specified subject areas.<br />
CFM102 THEORY OF DISEASES AND DISORDERS OF THE SKIN<br />
(85 Hours)<br />
Analyze skin diseases and disorders; identify the various skin conditions that will affect the process <strong>of</strong> performing and determining types <strong>of</strong> facials.<br />
CFM103 FACIAL & HAND TECHNIQUES AND CONTRAINDICATIONS<br />
(134 Hours/55 Services)<br />
Performing facials manually and mechanically, including masks, packs or treatments which must be applied on a variety <strong>of</strong> skin types including normal, oily, dry,<br />
combination, problem and mature, as well as its contraindications.<br />
CFM104 HAIR REMOVAL<br />
(50 Hours/30 Services)<br />
The morphology <strong>of</strong> hair and its growth stages, different hair removal methods and the conditions that contraindicates hair removal.<br />
CFM105 BASICS OF ELECTRICITY AND MACHINES<br />
(50 Hours/5 Services)<br />
Knowledge <strong>of</strong> the nature <strong>of</strong> electricity, types <strong>of</strong> electric current, electrotherapy and their uses, facial machines and how to use them safely.<br />
CFM106 PRODUCT CHEMISTRY<br />
(50 Hours)<br />
How the various chemistry and its branches, acids, alkaline, and P.H., affect product chemistry components; how to safely use a variety <strong>of</strong> products.<br />
CFM107 MAKEUP, EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS<br />
(50 Hours/40 Services)<br />
Basic makeup application to transition from a day to night look; variation <strong>of</strong> eyelash techniques including strip, individual and semi-permanent lashes; eyebrow<br />
and eyelash tinting techniques and procedures.<br />
CFM108 SALON MANAGEMENT<br />
(65 Hours/20 Services)<br />
Establishing proper salon organization: Bookkeeping requirements and net worth, taxes, withholding and governmental documentation requirements, employee<br />
hiring and relationships, environment and equipment health and safety procedures, first aid for the Cosmetologist, booking customer appointments, site selection,<br />
types <strong>of</strong> insurance necessary (including: Workman’s Compensation), patron operator relations, telephone techniques, fees for services, advertising, OSHA and<br />
liabilities for the salon owner/manager.<br />
CFM109 COMPUTER OPERATIONS IN SALON MANAGEMENT<br />
(60 Hours)<br />
Employee timekeeping; customer information for services and marketing; tracking <strong>of</strong> retail sales and service products; pr<strong>of</strong>it and loss compilation; suggested<br />
types and operations <strong>of</strong> computers systems for the salon.<br />
