Tremlite Metal Primer WB
A Water Based Acrylic Primer
for Metal Surfaces
Composition: Tremlite Metal Primer WB is a
waterbased, acrylic metal primer which provides
a tough, flexible film for the protection of
steel against corrosion. Tremlite Metal Primer
WB is asbestos free and VOC compliant.
Basic Uses: Tremlite Metal Primer WB is
designed for use on rusted surfaces as a component
of the Tremlite Metal Roof Coating
System. Tremlite Metal Primer WB is spot
applied to rusted areas after surface preparation.
Tremlite Metal Primer WB can also be
applied in a full coat primer application for
metal surfaces.
Limitations:
• Surface must be free of loose rust, coatings,
dirt, oils and other contaminants which
would inhibit good adhesion.
• Application temperature must be 50° F and
rising. Do not apply when rain is imminent.
• Not recommended for immersion service in
water, acids, alkalies, or solvents.
• Not intended for use over Kynar or other
PVDF resin coatings.

EQUIPMENT
Airless Spray Equipment: Use a 3/8” minimum
I.D. fluid hose rated for airless operation, Graco
30:1 ratio Bulldog or President pump,or equivalent,
and 0.021” to 0.025” spray tip at 2,400
psi minimum.
APPLICATION DATA
Coating performance is affected by proper
product selection, application, and surface
preparation. Coating integrity and service life
will be reduced because of improperly prepared
surfaces. Proper surface preparation ensures
coating adhesion to the substrate
Surface Preparation: Surface must be sound,
clean, dry and free from dust, oil, chalk, and
other contaminants. Prepare surface using
SSPC-SP2.* Wire brush, scrape, or sand down
rust and loose paint. Power wash metal surface
with high pressure water blast, 2000 minimum
psi. For power washing previously coated surfaces,
use a biodegradable detergent to assist in
cleaning, then rinse the surface with clean
water. New galvanized panels must weather a
minimum 6 months or be treated with phosphoric
acid in order to obtain proper adhesion
to the metal substrate.

Application: Mix each container thoroughly
prior to application. Spot apply Tremlite Metal
Primer WB to all rusted areas after proper surface
preparation. If specified, Tremlite Metal
Primer WB may be applied to the metal substrate
in a full coat primer application. When
spray applied, take necessary precaution to
avoid overspray. Allow Tremlite Metal Primer
WB to fully dry prior to application of surface
coating.
Coverage Rate: Apply in a spot application or
single coat at approximately 5 m 2 /L (200
ft 2 /gal.).
Clean up: Clean equipment immediately with
water.
Precautions: Users must read container labels
and Material Safety Data Sheets for health and
safety precautions prior to use.

Guarantee/Warranty: Tremco Inc. warrants
Tremlite Metal Primer WB to be free of defects
and to meet published physical properties
when cured and tested according to ASTM and
Tremco standards. Under this warranty, any
Tremlite Metal Primer WB product that is
proven to be defective when applied in accordance
to our written instructions, and in applications
recommended by Tremco as suitable for
this product, will be replaced with like product
at no charge. THIS IS BUYERS SOLE AND
EXCLUSIVE REMEDY.
All claims concerning product defects must be
made in writing within twelve (12) months of
shipment. The absence of such claims in writing
during this period will constitute a waiver of
all claims with respect to such product.
This warranty shall be IN LIEU OF any other
warranty, express or implied, including but not
limited to, any implied warranty of MER-
CHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE.
