The Sports
Report
Kangaroo Valley Golf Club
We are fortunate to have such a helpful
person in Sam welcome us with his
smile when we enter the Pro Shop each
Saturday morning to register for our
round of golf each Saturday morning.
Sam always greets us with an infectious
smile when we register for our rounds
Thanks Sam, we really appreciate all the
effort you put in to making our day
enjoyable.
The March Medal Round was a really close
competition was won comfortably with a nett
round of 65 by a visitor, Ross Tomes, playing off
a handicap of 31.
John Seyffer, with a nett 71, was second but won
the Medal (only a member can win the medal),
and was pressed by the next six players as only
three strokes separated them.
Ron Bower was second with a nett 72 beating
Ray Michelsons into third on a countback.
The going was tough for 2 April Stapleford
competition and John Seyffer was again in the
winner’s circle with 36 points.
Ray Michelsons once more was in the minor
placings, finishing second with 32 points by
beating Norris Ingrisch on a countback. Saturday
09 April was a Par competition and the first
extremely heavy fog, for the year, made the
round very challenging.
Not only was there a heavy atmosphere reducing
the distance the ball travelled through the air, but
the wet fairways prevented it from advancing far
once it landed.
Suzanne Greer gets a great drive away on the
6 th Tee with Sheila Young and Rod Ashbolt
looking stunned at the pure ‘poetry in motion’.
The changing speed of the greens became
another difficulty once the fog began to lift and
the greens dried out.
Nobody was able to play to their handicap and
Ron Bower won with a score -1 beating Geoff
Marsh, on a countback with John Innes
finishing third on a countback beating John
Seyffer into fourth spot.
