Professional MX racers want only the best components for their bikes. The <strong>Akrapovic</strong><br />
EVOLUTION complete exhaust system is such a component. The EVOLUTION line is<br />
the flagship of our product range, which guarantees top-quality production using stateof-the-art<br />
materials. The <strong>Akrapovic</strong> EVOLUTION system for the <strong>Yamaha</strong> <strong>YZ</strong> <strong>250</strong>F gives<br />
professional racers the performance edge they need in the unforgiving conditions of MX<br />
racing. The system conforms to the FIM 98 dB noise regulations for MX competition. In<br />
addition to high performance, the system offers the aesthetic enhancement of titanium<br />
which fits beautifully into the lines of the <strong>Yamaha</strong>.<br />
We have also developed an <strong>Akrapovic</strong> EVOLUTION complete exhaust system for the<br />
same motorcycle in order to provide improved performance (power and torque) at the<br />
lower end of the rpm range. This Evolution system differs physically from the previous<br />
Evolution system in the dimensions of the muffler. See schematic and graph of the measurements<br />
for the <strong>Yamaha</strong> <strong>YZ</strong> <strong>250</strong>F (<strong>2003</strong>, <strong>2004</strong>).<br />

Power: the purpose of the EVOLUTION system can be seen from the power curve – an increase<br />
over the stock performance at the top of the rpm range. Max. power of 34.6 HP appears<br />
at 11300 rpm, while max. increased power of 2.7 HP over the stock figures appears in the overrev<br />
range at 11800 rpm.<br />
Torque: the torque curve is similar to the power curve, with a slightly lower result at the bottom<br />
of the range and a substantial increase at the top. The increased torque together with the increased<br />
power makes for an excellent improvement for an engine of this size.<br />
CONFIGURATION<br />
The <strong>Akrapovic</strong> EVOLUTION complete exhaust system is composed of a header tube, link pipe<br />
and muffler. The conical titanium header tube is attached to the engine head using a stainless<br />
steel CNC machined inner sleeve, aluminum flanges and silicon-shielded tensioning springs.<br />
Since the header tube is connected directly to the link pipe, there is no collector. The joint with<br />
the link pipe is free-floating, and secured with a silicon-shielded tensioning spring. The conical<br />
titanium link pipe is welded to the muffler which is made entirely of titanium. The muffler is attached<br />
to the frame using an <strong>Akrapovic</strong> Offroad carbon-fiber clamp.<br />
