The Akrapovic Slip-On SP series is an excellent combinationof performance, production, easy installation and affordability. The system forthe EU market includes a noise damper, while the system for the US marketcomes without the damper. The system is available with an optional link pipewith a built-in catalytic converter.PERFORMANCEMeasurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON SP series system on the HONDA CB600F HORNET (without noise damper):Power & Torque: the Akrapovic Slip-on SP series shows its colors already at 3000rpm. The increase grows steadily, starting at 3000 rpm and extending all the way tothe top of the range, i.e. the overrev range. Max. power of 87.8 HP was measured at11960 rpm, an increase of 2.5 HP over the stock system at the same revs.The exhaust system also affects the torque readings. Looking from the engine back towards the muffler, the first part of the linkpipe is attached to the stock header assembly with a sleeve joint secured with a silicon-shieldedspring. It is also attached to the second part of the link pipe with a sleevejoint, also secured with a silicon-shielded spring. The second part of the link pipe iswelded to the muffler. The system comes with a carbon-fiber heat shield. The muffleris made partially out of stainless steel (inlet and outlet cap and inner perforation) andpartially of titanium – the outer sleeve. The muffler is attached to the frame using anAkrapovic carbon-fiber clamp. The muffler includes a suitable but not homologizednoise damper for the European market, and is available without the damper on theUS market.
