The Akrapovic EVOLUTION system for the Yamaha YZ 250F gives professional racers the performance edge they need in the unforgiving conditions of MX racing. The system conforms to the FIM 98 dB noise regulations for MX competition. In addition to high performance, the system offers the aesthetic enhancement of titanium which fits beautifully into the lines of the Yamaha. We have also developed an Akrapovic EVOLUTION complete exhaust system for the same motorcycle in order to provide improved performance (power and torque) at the lower end of the rpm range. This Evolution system differs physically from the previous Evolution system in the dimensions of the muffler. See schematic and graph of the measurements for the Yamaha YZ 250F (2003, 2004). Max. power of 34.6 HP appears at 11300 rpm, while max. increased power of 2.7 HP over the stock figures appears in the overrev range at 11800 rpm. Torque: the torque curve is similar to the power curve, with a slightly lower result at the bottom of the range and a substantial increase at the top. The increased torque together with the increased power makes for an excellent improvement for an engine of this size. CONFIGURATION The Akrapovic EVOLUTION complete exhaust system is composed of a header tube, link pipe and muffler. The conical titanium header tube is attached to the engine head using a stainless steel CNC machined inner sleeve, aluminum flanges and silicon-shielded tensioning springs. Since the header tube is connected directly to the link pipe, there is no collector. The joint with the link pipe is free-floating, and secured with a silicon-shielded tensioning spring. The conical titanium link pipe is welded to the muffler which is made entirely of titanium.
