The Northwest Eagle Fraternity was organized in 1927 by an able Lone
Scout, Melvin Burk. The tribe consists of Lone Scouts that come from various
parts of Northern Minnesota. The membership this year is small, but the
tribe is made up of live and active scouts. The members take an active part in
school affairs and take care of the flag.
Scouting offers a program of interesting and useful activities for boys in
their spare time. The Scout program includes experience in first aid, outdoor
camping and cooking, signaling, map-making, hiking, care of the flag, rules
of safety, thrift and nature study. In ordinary life, a boy does not learn much
about these things. The scout program tends to develop honesty, loyalty,
patriotism, thrift, citizenship, and friendliness.
