Ashley Rose, who were adopted from Ch<strong>in</strong>a. Although their daughters spent formative years <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese<br />

orphanages, Geoff, and his wife, Jan know that God surrounded them with love from the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Several of Geoff’s songs on A Beautiful Sound were written about his first adopted daughter, Anna Grace,<br />

and their adoption experience. “Swept Away,” is about how much Geoff and his family love and care for<br />

Anna and the song “Surrounded,” came out of his adoption experience.<br />

While Geoff cont<strong>in</strong>ues to tour, he is also found play<strong>in</strong>g at youth conferences and lead<strong>in</strong>g worship at<br />

s<strong>in</strong>gles conferences. He also does fly-<strong>in</strong> dates—sometimes with just a guitar and other times with a full<br />

band. Geoff cont<strong>in</strong>ues to write and s<strong>in</strong>g outside his own projects. His songs appear on such compilation<br />

projects as ForeFront Records’ “The Prayer of Jabez” and “Secrets of the V<strong>in</strong>e.” And, Geoff’s song<br />

“Overflow” was Youth for Christ’s DC/LA 2000 theme song.<br />

“One th<strong>in</strong>g I have been learn<strong>in</strong>g is that beauty is found <strong>in</strong> those th<strong>in</strong>gs that, at the end of the day, br<strong>in</strong>g<br />

us closer or rem<strong>in</strong>d us of Jesus’ love… It took a little girl all the way from Ch<strong>in</strong>a to rem<strong>in</strong>d us that we can all<br />

be adopted by a Father who will always be there.”<br />

Victoria Rowell<br />

Victoria Rowell landed the role of Drucilla W<strong>in</strong>ters on the “Young and the Restless” <strong>in</strong> 1990. Dur<strong>in</strong>g her<br />

eight-year run on the daytime drama, she was honored with a Soap Opera Digest Award for<br />

Outstand<strong>in</strong>g Actress, a nom<strong>in</strong>ation for a Soap Opera Digest Award for Hottest Female Star as well as<br />

w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g seven NAACP Image Awards for Outstand<strong>in</strong>g Actress <strong>in</strong> a Drama Series. She has appeared <strong>in</strong> many<br />

films such as “The Dist<strong>in</strong>guished Gentleman” with Eddie Murphy, “Dumb and Dumber” with Jim Carrey and<br />

“Eve’s Bayou,” starr<strong>in</strong>g Samuel L. Jackson and Diahann Carroll.<br />

In her role as pathologist and county medical exam<strong>in</strong>er Dr. Amanda Bentley on the Viacom/CBS series<br />

“Diagnosis Murder,” Rowell co-starred with the legendary Dick Van Dyke for eight seasons. She was also<br />

<strong>in</strong>vited to write for the series, and was recognized by the Los Angeles Times for her literary contribution to<br />

the show. Also, while on “Diagnosis Murder,” Rowell opened the doors for Los Angeles foster youth to be<br />

employed by Viacom as production assistants.<br />

Hav<strong>in</strong>g spent eighteen years <strong>in</strong> foster care, Rowell became a passionate voice for children like herself. In<br />

1990, she founded the Rowell Foster Children’s Positive Plan, which enriches foster children through artistic<br />

and athletic expression. In addition to facilitat<strong>in</strong>g job opportunities with Viacom television productions, she<br />

assisted youths <strong>in</strong> gett<strong>in</strong>g jobs with other companies, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g BMG and Oxygen.<br />

Rowell is an active contributor and or supporter of Americans for the Arts, the Ford Foundation, the<br />

National Endowment for the Arts, American Ballet Theater, School of American Ballet, the Urban League,<br />

the NAACP, the Adm<strong>in</strong>istration of Children’s Services, NYC, New Yorkers for Children, the Alliance for<br />

Children’s Rights, the Children’s Defense Fund, Hope WorldWide and the Department of Children and Family<br />

Services <strong>in</strong> various states.<br />

For the past three years, Rowell has been the national spokesperson for Casey Family Services — an arm<br />

of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. In part, United Parcel Service visionary, Jim Casey, founded the foundation.<br />

Nicole Yonkosky<br />

Nicole’s passion for adoption advocacy was borne out of personal experience. She and her sister,<br />

Miriah, lived <strong>in</strong> several foster homes before be<strong>in</strong>g adopted when they were five-years-old and twoyears-old.<br />

With the care and encouragement they received <strong>in</strong> their new home, the girls blossomed.<br />

The Yonkoskys helped their daughters f<strong>in</strong>d their natural gifts, and encouraged Nicole to cultivate her gift of<br />

s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g. As her confidence grew and her skills improved, she soon began s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g the Star Spangled Banner<br />

at local hockey games and at other community functions. One of the most excit<strong>in</strong>g highlights of her young<br />

career is perform<strong>in</strong>g for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Nicole was a f<strong>in</strong>alist <strong>in</strong><br />

the Loretta Lynn contest <strong>in</strong> Nashville, TN and has preformed at several fairs and festivals; she plans to release<br />

her first s<strong>in</strong>gle this fall.<br />

In addition to be<strong>in</strong>g a talented performer, Nicole is a strong advocate for adoption and participates <strong>in</strong><br />

adoption programs throughout her home state of West Virg<strong>in</strong>ia. Some of the programs <strong>in</strong> which she has<br />

participated <strong>in</strong>clude the film<strong>in</strong>g of One Church, One Child, which promotes adoption throughout West<br />

Virg<strong>in</strong>ia and will be released this month; attend<strong>in</strong>g the West Virg<strong>in</strong>ia Bureau of Health and Human<br />

Resources’ annual conference regard<strong>in</strong>g foster care and state adoption issues; and a solo performance<br />

portray<strong>in</strong>g Rosa Parks at the National Human Rights Commission Conference <strong>in</strong> Charleston, WV.<br />
