LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
Extensive laboratory experience in identifying, staging, measuring and photographing marine organisms.
Development of novel methods and stains for zooplankton feeding and maturation studies. Vast experience
of methods used to filter the chemical and biological constituents of seawater.
FIELD EXPERIENCE
Extensive field experience from plankton ecology studies in temperate and Arctic waters, and work on rocky
and sediment shores in the UK. Broad experience from several Arctic research cruises (Norway and
Canada), sampling the pelagic, benthic and under-ice realms. Qualified in Fall Protection Awareness (June
2013).
SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
Extensive use of the R TM and Minitab TM statistical software environments, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
Access, PowerPoint). Ocean Data View for marine map building, Ecopath with Ecosim for addressing
specific modelling questions, and software associated with the Lightframe Onsight Key-Species
Investigation System (LOKI) for video sampling of zooplankton and image analyses.
