Since 2005, I sampled >40arctic and tundra lakes along with Inuit or Inuvialuit field crews, whom we trained relevantscientific sampling methods. At all lakes we conducted food web sampling (fish community, benthos, and zooplankton) and relevant limnological measurements. Studies included avariety of northern fish species (e.g. Arctic char, Lake trout, Whitefish, northern pike).Planning, licensing, and on-site logistics of these sampling expeditions were amongst myresponsibilities. I engaged in community outreach activities such as public meetings, presentations at schools or interviews with local media in Resolute Bay, Cambridge Bay,Tuktoyaktuk, and Inuvik. My current analytical and data analysis expertise includesecologically relevant stable isotope analysis (C, N, S, and Hg), Hg, and methylHg (DMA 80,GC AFS, laser ablation ICP MS, multi collector ICP MS), as well as qualitative andquantitative analysis of invertebrates. My PhD work was recognized internationally, as I wasinvited to speak at meetings and universities in Japan (‘06, ‘10), Austria (‘07), and Sweden(‘10). I am contributor to the AMAP Mercury Assessment 2011, the CACAR Phase III, theArctic Biodiversity Assessment (ABA), and am member of the Freshwater Expert MonitoringGroup of CAFF’s CBMP. Prior to Arctic research, I gained national and internationalexperience as student or professional in several projects in Austria (Water quality), France(Marine biology), and Canada (Stream ecology). My background in limnology and zoology(MSc), complemented by my training in ecotoxicology (PhD) and experience as postdoctoralresearcher gives me a comprehensive skill set to address current and future issuesin aquatic and environmental research.
