FANTASY FEST PARADE ROUTE & GENERAL INFORMATION
PARADE VIEWING
The Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest
Parade launches its Mayan madness
from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic
Ocean on Saturday, Oct. 27. As the
parade rumbles and wanders through
the route, it sometimes moves like a
reckless space rocket heading right
towards the end and at other times it
seems as lethargic as a zombie. The
parade blasts off at 7 PM, and takes at
least 2 hours to complete the route. It
most likely will reach the turn by Front
and Duval Streets around 7:45 PM
and the upper blocks of Duval about
8:30 PM. The parade passes through
Southard and Whitehead Streets first,
so viewing from here is best if you
want to arrive home at a reasonable
hour. Upper Duval beyond Virginia
Street is less congested if you are
somewhat claustrophobic. Remember
the downtown area is very congested
and parking is limited with most streets
closed off until the parade is over.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
A special area for wheelchair viewing
of the 2012 Captain Morgan Fantasy
Fest Parade will be on Duval at Virginia
Street. Handicapped-accessible parking
and port-o-potties will be available at
the GATO Building located at the corner
of Virginia and Simonton Streets.
BARRICADES
Congested areas along the parade
route will have barricades to keep
spectators out from under the wheels
of Fantasy and to allow the parade
entrants room to perform. Please honor
the intent of these devices, which are
erected with safety in mind and be
good sports when the city employees
have to start setting them up before the
parade.
Particularly at the intersections
where the parade turns, a wide leeway
is needed.
Please cooperate with parade
ambassadors and enforcement
personnel to provide a safe turning
radius for parade vehicles.
Please be cautious around the
barricades and step out of the way
when city workers disassemble
them after the parade. Give them
an encouraging word as this is a
challenging job.
AMBASSADOR PROTOCOL
The Parade Ambassadors are a group
of approximately 100+ volunteers who
are stationed along the parade route
to keep the spectators out of harms
way and from under the wheels of the
parade.
These very special people stay sober
on party night to be the designated
drivers (in the sense of herders) of the
Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade.
You will recognize these noble,
yet fun-loving people by their special
outfits that money can’t buy. They

with the parade coordinator and law
enforcement personnel. Please let them
know we appreciate them. Smile, thank
them and cooperate in a timely manner
with their directions.
ASK FIRST!
Please ask permission before
snapping photos of other partygoers
and practice festival etiquette by
treating other people’s costumes (no
matter how skimpy!) as works of art.
Look and admire, but don’t touch or risk
being turned into a molten mess.
STREET CLOSURES
To accommodate the many street
activities during the festival, several
streets or part of streets are closed
during festivities.
On Friday, Oct. 26, Duval Street from
Front Street to South Street is closed
to traffic beginning at noon. Side street
crossings are at Front Street, Eaton
Street, Angela Street, Truman Avenue
and United Street.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning
at 10 AM, the following streets will be
closed: Duval Street is closed from
Front Street to United Street. Front,
Eaton, Angela streets and Truman
Avenue are the only accessible cross
streets. From 4 PM until the parade
ends, Whitehead Street is closed from
Angela Street to Front Street.
Several parking lots will also be
closed from 8 AM on Saturday, Oct.
27 until noon on Sunday, Oct. 38: the
parking lot in the 500 block of Thomas
Street and the parking lot in the 300
block of Fleming Street. Southard Street
from Truman Annex to Simonton Street
RECOMMENDED FANTASY FEST FLOAT STAGING ROUTE
FANTASY FEST TRAFFIC ALERT FROM THE FDOT
Fantasy Fest revelers—please be aware of the
following changes due to the current reconstruction
work being done on North Roosevelt Boulevard:
Lane closures and detours will make it more
challenging for the transportation of floats to the
staging area for the parade. Please see the map for
the recommended route. After the parade, Key West
Police will aid in directing the floats out of the party
zone.
Traffic on North Roosevelt Boulevard is now inbound
only from the triangle entrace to Key West to First
Street/Palm Avenue; then 1 lane each direction from

HEADQUARTERS
The Fantasy Fest A-CONCH-ALYPSE
2012 headquarters is at Key West Aloe
located at 419 Duval St. It will serve
as the center of operations during
the Annual Street Fair, Duval Street
Promenade and on through the Captain
Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade.
Information about festival activities,
including maps of the Masquerade
March, the Parade route and port-o-let
locations, are available. Key West Aloe
will also provide the radio transmission
link between the famed Madness
Monitors.
Prior to Friday, Oct. 26, call the
Fantasy Fest office at 305-296-1817
for festival updates. On Friday, Oct. 26
and Saturday, Oct. 27 call 305-394-
5583.
First Street/Palm Avenue to Eisenehower Drive.
You must now use Flagler Avenue or South Roosevelt
Boulevard to travel outbound (eastbound). However,
South Roosevelt Boulevard is the RECOMMENDED, the
least congested, and the fastest way to exit the City.
Traffic may now turn right from two lanes at the
triangle onto US1 from South Roosevelt Blvd. CAUTION:
Remember that even though you may now proceed
straight or turn right from the ‘through lane,’ the traffic
signal must still be obeyed.
