Kids come out to play<br />
On the last day <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fantasy</strong> <strong>Fest</strong> — Sunday,<br />
Oct. 28 — children play at an event just for<br />
them. It’s the 31st anniversary <strong>of</strong> Children’s<br />
Day. Held at Bayview Park, Children’s Day is<br />
crammed with games, contests, food, rides<br />
and — above all else — fun. Every booth is<br />
run by a charity organization<br />
or youth group selling a<br />
game or food and they<br />
keep the proceeds to<br />
fund their cause.<br />
In addition to the<br />
booths, Children’s Day will<br />
feature “rides” such as the<br />
gyrojumper, the Titanic slide and the<br />
rock wall. <strong>Key</strong>s Energy will bring out<br />

their cherry pickers and take people up<br />
for a panoramic view <strong>of</strong> the park.<br />
The stage will be a home to a rotating showcase <strong>of</strong> stars<br />
including cheerleaders, local student choirs, bands and<br />
dancers. The costume contest, sponsored by First State<br />
Bank, starts at about 12:30 p.m.<br />

The Fat Lady Sings Tea Dance party is the <strong><strong>of</strong>fi</strong><strong>cial</strong> close<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Fantasy</strong> <strong>Fest</strong> <strong>2012</strong>. It kicks <strong>of</strong>f Sunday, October<br />
28, <strong>2012</strong> at 4 p.m. at La Te Da and is swamped<br />
by locals and visitors alike, equal in their<br />
unwillingness to let all the fun be done.<br />
“It’s a mad, mad, mad house,” said Jean Claude<br />
Gosselin. “And a ton <strong>of</strong> fun.”<br />
As usual, Junior will be spinning the tunes and<br />
it’s a paltry $5 admission.<br />
Among the throng will be the designated “fat lady,” ready to<br />

accept the adulation <strong>of</strong> her fans. Who? Well, guests fueled with<br />
a bass beat and distilled spirits will be the final judges on that<br />
