The Weber Ultrasonics Group is divided
into three business segments: ultrasonic
cleaning, ultrasonic welding
and cutting as well as environmental
technology.
Each business segment is represented
by a subsidiary. The fourth subsidiary,
Weber Ultrasonics America,
produces and markets the ultrasonic
solutions of the entire group of companies
in North and South America.
As parent company, the Weber
Ultrasonics Group defines the business
strategy for all four subsidiaries.

Weber Entec ))
Weber Entec focuses on the plant engineering of ultrasound-relevant applications in the field of environmental
technology, and in particular the ultrasonic treatment of biogenic substances on the basis of the sewage sludge
disintegration procedure developed by the Fraunhofer Institute in cooperation with Weber Ultrasonics. Thanks
to a broad range of services, manufacturing, plant engineering, sales as well as systems analysis and process
optimisation are provided from a single source.
Ultrasonic disintegration optimises
virtually all plant parameters. For
instance, the increase in biogas
production generates the same
energy yield even when feeding less
substrate. Fermentation durations are
shortened and the plant’s individual
energy requirements, for example for
circulation, are reduced. Even when
taking into account unchanging compensation
levels for energy fed into
the grid and increasing raw material
prices and after the deduction of
maintenance costs and depreciation
for the new ultrasonic unit, plant
operators still enjoy a significant
surplus.
The new systems are based on a
sewage sludge disintegration process
developed during many years of cooperation
with the Fraunhofer Institute.
The organic substances released by
the disintegration are more easily
accessible to micro-organisms,
thus facilitating both anaerobic and
aerobic breakdown. In addition, the
increased enzyme activity in various
milieu conditions also has a positive
effect. Weber Entec’s procedure
is superior to currently available
processes in many ways, impressing
with long maintenance intervals and a
high degree of operational reliability.

Ultrasound
increases yield
from biogas plants ))

“The installation of an ultrasonic sewage sludge disintegration system in a
700 kW biogas plant at Biogas Jena results in 12% higher efficiency for the
plant operator.” This is the outcome of a metrologically monitored six-month
test phase by the independent specialists at Eurofins Umwelt Ost GmbH.
Biogas Jena took over the test facility.
This innovative form of systems engineering is supplied by Weber Entec. The
principle is as simple as it is effective: en route between the fermentors, some of
the prepared substrate runs through the Biopush ultrasonic reactor. The applied
energy of 2 x 2,000 Watt “disintegrates”, i.e. it breaks up the fermentation substrate
through cavitation, thus mobilising exo-enzymes. Biopush works on two
fronts: both the accelerated hydrolysis with the improved transformation of the
fermentation substrate and the permanent lowering of fermentor viscosity lead to
a higher gas yield and therefore to a considerably improved energy balance for
the plant operator.

Weber Ultrasonics America was founded in 2009 as a subsidiary of the Weber Ultrasonics Group. Operating
out of Clarkston/Michigan near Detroit, the company produces and markets the ultrasonic solutions of
the entire Group in North & South America. Product and production expertise „made in Germany“ form the
basis for the successful expansive development of Weber Ultrasonics America.
The company has already been providing
the US market with innovative
ultrasonic components for ultrasonic
cleaning since 2003 as a sales partner
to Weber Ultrasonics Surface
Technology. As an independent subsidiary
of the Weber Ultrasonics Group,
Weber Ultrasonics America now produces
and markets the entire Group’s
ultrasonic solutions in the fields of
surface technology, ultrasonic welding
and environmental technology at
its 4,300 square foot facility. Weber
Ultrasonics America also has its own
dedicated test lab.
Our service stretches from qualified
consulting for existing and potential
customers, through project planning
and production, right through to
product maintenance. We work
together with customers to perform
specific tests on specimen parts at
our test lab. This enables us to plan
and implement ultrasonic equipment
tailored precisely to your individual
requirements for every application
case. We also operate a service
centre. Besides performing service,
maintenance and repair work, this
facility holds workshops and training
sessions for customers.
