Standards<br />

Interior and exterior signage SHALL use a clear and legible font size, with text in<br />

both Arabic and English.<br />

Emergency escape signage shall meet ADCD requirements.<br />

Signage SHALL clearly identify the segregation of male and female worshippers<br />

for all functional components.<br />

Signage for the no shoe/shoe zone threshold SHALL be integrated in the design.<br />

A permanent sign indicating the mosque layout SHALL be placed adjacent to all<br />

noticeboards and show all fire assembly points.<br />

First aid signs SHALL be located next to first aid equipment. (Refer to Volume 3 -<br />

4.6.3 Noticeboards<br />

All mosques SHALL include a minimum of 2 noticeboards; 1 for male<br />

worshippers and 1 for female worshippers.<br />

The layout plan SHOULD orient the worshipper and indicate the location of exit<br />

points, first aid equipment, Imam’s office, Imam’s residence and emergency<br />

Noticeboards SHOULD be made from materials that complement the interior<br />

architecture of the mosque.<br />

AS152 Noticeboards SHALL be a minimum size of 1.2 m (w) x 1.0 m (h) per board. AG107 Noticeboards SHOULD be placed within public spaces on the mosque plot.<br />

AG108 Each mosque SHOULD incorporate a digital feedback system and display to<br />

communicate mosque energy and water consumption to worshippers.<br />

4.6.4 Lighting<br />

A lighting strategy SHALL be developed to complement the design intent, scale<br />

and context of the mosque.<br />

The lighting strategy SHALL ensure easy and efficient operation and<br />

maintenance of all lighting within the mosque plot.<br />

AS155 The lighting strategy SHALL specify energy saving, low maintenance and readily<br />

available fixtures.<br />

Interior and exterior lighting SHALL accentuate architectural elements and ensure<br />

safe circulation within the mosque plot and the adjacent public realm.<br />
