Guidelines<br />

Landscape design SHOULD provide a variety of seating options arranged in<br />

clusters.<br />

The mosque landscape strategy SHALL use coordinated furniture designs that are<br />

appropriate to the mosque architecture and its context, and can withstand climatic<br />

conditions and heavy use.<br />

External seating areas SHALL be provided.<br />

Furnishing elements SHOULD be light coloured and non-reflective.<br />

Site furnishing elements, such as seating and planters, MAY be integrated into<br />

the architectural elements of the mosque. (See Figures 72-73.)<br />

Fixed site furnishings SHOULD be mounted into below-ground concrete<br />

foundations.<br />

A hard paved area of 1.2 m x 1.2 m SHOULD be provided at the end of each<br />

row of seating to accommodate a wheelchair or pushchair.<br />

Portable seating MAY be considered to encourage flexibility in the use of the<br />

internal courtyard spaces.<br />

Site furnishings SHALL NOT be located within the pedestrian through zone.<br />

All furnishing elements SHALL be easily cleaned, maintained and replaced.<br />

seating nodes, as per PRDM requirements. (See Figure 71.)<br />

(WPC) for site furnishings SHOULD be considered.<br />
