ACADEMIC YEAR AND ENTRY POINTS<br />

The academic year in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> & <strong>Science</strong><br />

consists <strong>of</strong> three terms:<br />

Fall Session – September to December<br />

Winter Session – January to April<br />

Summer Session – May to August<br />

The Fall Session is <strong>the</strong> only entry point for degreeseeking<br />

applicants admitted to full-time study.<br />

Part-time and non-degree students may be able to enter<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Summer Session.<br />

There is no entry in <strong>the</strong> Winter Session.<br />

Immigration Requirements<br />

– Study Permits/Visas<br />

International applicants are strongly advised to check<br />

very early for <strong>the</strong> requirements for study permits<br />

and entry visas with Citizenship and Immigration<br />

Canada (CIC). Do not wait until an admission decision<br />

has been made in order to begin <strong>the</strong> process <strong>of</strong><br />

ga<strong>the</strong>ring required documentation for studying in<br />

Canada. In some instances <strong>the</strong> CIC <strong>of</strong>fice servicing<br />

your geographic region will require pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> English<br />

language pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in <strong>the</strong> form <strong>of</strong> a standardized<br />

test (such as TOEFL). A medical examination and<br />

pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> funding may also be required. Consult <strong>the</strong><br />

nearest CIC <strong>of</strong>fice for <strong>the</strong> full list <strong>of</strong> requirements.<br />

The U <strong>of</strong> T Centre for International Experience<br />

provides a variety <strong>of</strong> services regarding immigration<br />

regulations, health care, and o<strong>the</strong>r important nonacademic<br />

matters.<br />
