HFS Federal Credit Union recently participated in the American Cancer
Society Relay for Life held at the Francis Wong Stadium in Hilo.
Businesses, organizations, and individuals from around the island joined
together to celebrate life and remember past loved ones. Those who attended
not only walked the track but enjoyed the various types of food, activities,
and entertainment offered throughout the night. HFS FCU’s tent was
a popular stop for many
families as HFS staff volunteered
their time to offer
face painting and tattoos
for the keiki, as well
as holding a bake sale to
raise additional funds. This
year you may have also
noticed the many stars
and balloons displayed in
our offices which we used
to recognize those individuals
and members making
contributions to this
cause. Together we donated
more than $15,700
to this worthwhile organization,
leading the island
in total contributions. HFS
would also like to take this
time to recognize the top
staff fund raisers in our offices:
Lorna Krahner, Hilo
branch ($1,590.31), Sharday
Sugiura, Prince Kuhio
branch ($1,395.66), and
Kristi-Lei Asai, Hilo branch
($1,366.50). HFS would like
to say a big Mahalo to
everyone who helped to
make this event a huge
success.

FS Federal Credit Union is pleased to introduce two new members
Hof our team, Donna Stimson, our new Prince Kuhio Branch Supervisor
and Timothy J. Ashcraft, our new Kona Coast Branch Supervisor.

Donna, a new addition to the Prince Kuhio team
joins us with over 10 years of experience in the
financial services industry. Before moving to Hawaii
5 years ago to start a family she worked for Bank of
America in Southern California as a Banking Center
Manager III/VP. “I am excited to be working for an
organization such as HFS where members come first
and customer service is a top priority” Stimson says
as she explains how her personal values of service
have shaped her career.
Timothy J. Ashcraft

Timothy joins us with over 19 years of experience in
the financial services industry. He brings with him a
wealth of management experience and is excited to
help our Credit Union grow on the West Side. Prior
to joining the HFS FCU team, Ashcraft worked for
Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union as the Assistant
Vice President and Kaloko branch manager, as
well as Bank of Hawaii, and Riverview Savings Bank in
Vancouver, Washington. Ashcraft is also active in the
local community and is currently serving as the President
of the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of
West Hawaii.

Join. As a start, open a savings account for each child in your family
at HFS Federal Credit Union. Visit the branch regularly to get children
comfortable with coming into the Credit Union. Depositing loose
change into our free coin machines is a great activity to do with your
children - they will be delighted to see how fast it adds up. Guide
teenagers through using a debit card and balancing a checkbook.
Share. Include your children in your household finance discussions.
Show them how you budget income and expenses. As their skills
improve, give them challenges—such as finding a better cell-phone
plan, calculating the total monthly cost of owning a car, or sticking to
a budget with back-to-school or holiday spending.
