Pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g by D<strong>in</strong>a De Brozzi Goodenough<br />

DINA BROZZI GOODE-<br />

NOUGH, Tel. 764 5594, was born<br />

<strong>in</strong> Italy and started pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g large<br />

oil canvases at the age of ten, prior<br />

to attend<strong>in</strong>g art schools <strong>in</strong><br />

Bologna, Paris and Florence. She<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ally settled <strong>in</strong> <strong>Antigua</strong> <strong>in</strong> 1999<br />

with her husband Architect Andrew<br />

Goodenough. While work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

as much as possible from life,<br />

whether it be children, women,<br />

Caribbean people or dogs, she<br />

firmly believes that the way to<br />

br<strong>in</strong>g life to a pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g is to establish<br />

good relationships with her<br />

live models. Her work can be<br />

viewed at Harmony Hall, Sugar<br />

Ridge and her studio/gallery The<br />

Workshop <strong>in</strong> Falmouth, English Harbour.<br />

DEBORAH ECKERT, Tel: 723 3007, has a passion for<br />

people and has spent several years pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g award-w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

portraits. Her other favourite subject is nature and<br />

particularly landscapes. However, recently she has<br />

begun explor<strong>in</strong>g abstract pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs. In addition, Debbie<br />

creates sculpture from found objects and wall hang<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

from glittery fabrics called lum<strong>in</strong>ous landscapes. Her<br />

work can be viewed at Art at the Ridge galleries.<br />

JAN FARARA, Tel: 764 8803, Jan’s murals grace many<br />

hotels and restaurants on the island. Her large colourful<br />

canvases are much <strong>in</strong> demand <strong>in</strong> <strong>Antigua</strong> and around the<br />

world. The subject matter is always the Caribbean, becom<strong>in</strong>g<br />

sometimes more, sometimes less abstract, but<br />

always captur<strong>in</strong>g the feel<strong>in</strong>g of the islands. Jan gives visitors<br />

a warm welcome to her gallery/studio <strong>in</strong> Buckleys.<br />

JILL FULLER, Tel: 725 5455, Jill moves between media,<br />

us<strong>in</strong>g photography as a tool whether she is pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

sculpt<strong>in</strong>g, work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> ceramics or mak<strong>in</strong>g collages. Her<br />

work reflects her love of the Caribbean and is often featured<br />

<strong>in</strong> magaz<strong>in</strong>es, catalogues and brochures.<br />

GILLY GOBINET, Tel: 464 6084, is best known for her<br />

vibrant watercolours, true reflections of <strong>Antigua</strong> and the<br />

Caribbean. She uses her wide range of styles, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

cartoons, to illustrate her very popular Cool Caribbean<br />

book series. Orig<strong>in</strong>al pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> watercolour, oil,<br />

acrylic, and pen and <strong>in</strong>k are available directly from the<br />
