The visual signs of growth and development are evident with the completion of the Roland Fine Arts Center, the renovation project in Nunn-Cook Men’s Dormitory, and site preparation for the Carroll Missions Center. The many positive changes made in 2002-2003 will impact the future of HLG for years to come. Funds for these capital expenditures are raised in addition to the operating income. Hannibal-LaGrange College depends on the generous gifts of its supporters to fund not only our growing capital and endowment needs, but a portion of our daily operations budget. The leadership of Hannibal-LaGrange College takes careful steps to assure that all funds are used wisely in order provide the best possible education for HLG students. The Hannibal-LaGrange College community expresses their thanks to all the wonderful friends of the college as they continue to share financially to support the work of this fine institution. 2002-2003 Revenue Budget: $10,914,016 Missouri Baptist Convention – 5.95% Other – .82% Gifts & Grants – 10.67% Auxiliary Services & Institutional Support – 16.32% STRATEGIC PLANNING During the past academic year, the Strategic Planning Team has continued to work to establish and recommend the implementation of goals conducive to the present and future growth and development of Hannibal-LaGrange College. On May 4, 2002, the Board of Trustees of Hannibal-LaGrange College voted to adopt a five-year Strategic Plan proposed by the Strategic Planning Team. This plan was initiated in the 2002-2003 academic year, and it is the intention of the SPT to continue this process so the college will always have a “five-year plan” in place. Strategic Planning is a crucial component in the success of any institution or organization. Two tangible examples of successful strategic planning are the fact that HLG now has more than 400 resident students, and indeed, our current strategic plan includes goals explicitly seeking to increase that number, and the newly completed Roland Fine Arts Center. Being a Hannibal- LaGrange College alumna, I smiled and proudly said “HLG!” I was thinking to myself where else can a young person go and get a quality Christian education from professors who expect excellence in the classroom, and challenge the student’s personal walk with God. As I reflect back to my college days here at HLG, I can see how God was molding me for future work in my church, community, and now in my new position as Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Even though it is four years until Kyley graduates from high school, I want her to have all the wonderful experiences that I had and more. Not only from a parent’s perspective, but also from a student, former staff, adjunct teacher, trustee, and now an administrator’s point of view, I know the value of a Christian education. I see God use the entire workforce at HLG to mold each individual. I know that when my daughter begins her first day of classes here at Hannibal-LaGrange, she will be challenged academically and spiritually. That is priceless. We are so blessed to have you, our donors, who give from your hearts so that the Lord will use Hannibal-LaGrange to glorify His kingdom. I want to thank you for your past and present support and I encourage you to continue giving as we work on the Phase II campaign for the Roland Fine Arts Building. This campaign will complete the furnishings of this fine, state of the art facility. I invite you to stop by and see this magnificent building, especially if you missed the dedication ceremonies. We are at the halfway mark with raising funds for the Carroll Missions Center. How exciting it is to build a new facility in which students are trained and equipped to minister both here at home and all over the world! You can be a vital part of this endeavor to reach the world for Christ. I look forward to meeting and updating you on what the Lord is doing to further His kingdom here at Hannibal-LaGrange College.
