Gift Chair & Class Agent Job Description
Purpose
The Gift Committee is made up of dedicated members of the class who assist in the solicitation
of the class gift. Committee members consist of a Chair(s), Presidents’ Club Chair(s), and Class
Agents. The committee requires strong volunteer leadership, careful planning, and hard work.
A successful class gift program requires committee members to concentrate on the personal
solicitation of classmates in an effort to raise the bar for class fundraising. Committee
members begin making contact with classmates in the fall of each fiscal year.
Time Commitment
15 - 20 hours for the year

Average of 15-20 solicitations per year
Summary of Committee Responsibilities
• Personally solicit ten to fifteen classmates to encourage participation in the class gift. (all)
• Share news and updates from campus and be available to answer any questions from your
classmates on Colgate related issues. (all)
• Inform the Annual Fund Office of any pledges/commitments received; address changes, or
any other new information. (all)
• Participate in conference calls as appropriate. (all)
• Make a personally meaningful (if possible a “stretch”) gift. (all)
• If in a reunion year, make every effort to attend reunion. (all)
• Oversee the gift committee. (Gift Chair)
• Assist the Annual Fund staff in recruiting committee members. (Gift Chair)
• Participate in screening the class for leadership donors. (Gift Chair)
• Preside over all committee conference calls. (Gift Chair)
• Maintain regular communication with both committee members and the Annual Fund
staff. (Gift Chair)
