Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu’ndan Seçki
Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu, videodan fotoğrafa, resimden yerleştirmeye, ışık heykellerinden
tuval resmine dek farklı tekniklerde gerçekleştirilmiş çalışmaların yer aldığı kurumsal bir koleksiyon.
Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd, François Morellet, Jim Dine, Keith Sonnier gibi uluslararası çağdaş sanatın
önde gelen temsilcilerinin yanı sıra, Liam Gillick, Peter Kogler, Jerry Zeniuk, Brigitte Kowanz, Roman
Signer, Gerwald Rockenschaub da koleksiyonda temsil ediliyor. Koleksiyonun ağırlık noktalarından
biri de çağdaş Türk sanatı. Abdurrahman Öztoprak’tan Kutluğ Ataman’a, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’dan Lale
Delibaş’a, Ayşe Erkmen’den Bengü Karaduman’a uzanan geniş bir çizgide toplanmış olan eserler,
İstanbul’daki güncel sanat ortamının farklı bir yorumunu gündeme getiriyor. Robert Mapplethorpe,
Sebastião Salgado, Ahmet Ertuğ, Ola Kolehmainen, Edward Burtynsky ve Thomas Ruff gibi sanatçıların
da temsil edildiği fotoğraf sanatı bölümü ise koleksiyonun gelişmekte olan dinamik karakterine işaret
ediyor.
2007 yılında Borusan Holding’in yönetim merkezi olarak kullanılmaya başlayan Perili Köşk,
Baltalimanı’ndaki eşsiz konumuyla Boğaziçi’nin en ilginç sivil mimari yapılarından biri. Bu ayrıcalıklı
konum, kökleri 1980’lere kadar uzanan Borusan Çağdaş Sanat Koleksiyonu için farklı deneylere
olanak veren bir sanat platformunun kurulmasını destekliyor. “Borusan Contemporary” iki farklı
kurumsal kimliğin, bir arada, eşzamanlı olarak yorumlanarak Perili Köşk’te sanatın “yaratıcı
gücünü” içselleştirilmesini hedefliyor. Birinci kurumsal kimlik “koleksiyon”, ikincisiyse “geçici sergi
organizasyonlarıdır”. İlk bakışta, bir çırpıda anlaşılamayan bu iki farklı kimlik, belki de aynı kalpteki
iki farklı gerçeklik olgusuyla özetlenebilir. Hafta içi aktif olarak çalışılan bir ofis, hafta sonu ise yaratıcı
çalışmaların gösterildiği bir sergileme alanı olarak Borusan Contemporary, çağdaş sanatla birlikte
yaşamanın ve üretmenin “sıra dışı” bir model olarak denendiği bir alan. Ağırlıklı olarak fotoğraf, video,
ışık heykeli gibi “New Media Art” teknikleriyle üretilmiş çalışmalardan oluşan kurumsal koleksiyon,
Perili Köşk’te her üç ayda bir değiştirilecek olan SEGMENT sergileri dizisinin çıkış noktası. Bu broşür,
SEGMENT sergilerinin kurgusunu, farklı katlarda, değişik kavramsal çerçevelerde yorumlanan
çalışmaları sanatseverlere tanıtmayı hedefliyor.
Selection from the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection
Borusan Contemporary Art Collection comprises works in diverse techniques ranging from video to
photography, from painting to installation, light sculpture and canvas painting. It includes works by the
leading names of the contemporary art world such as Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd, François Morellet, Jim
Dine and Keith Sonnier as well as Liam Gillick, Peter Kogler, Jerry Zeniuk, Brigitte Kowanz, Roman Signer
and Gerwald Rockenschaub. Another highlight is contemporary art from Turkey as represented through
a wide range of artworks by names including Abdurrahman Öztoprak, Kutluğ Ataman, Nuri Bilge Ceylan,
Lale Delibaş, Ayşe Erkmen and Bengü Karaduman, creating possibilities for a reinterpretation of the
contemporary art scene in Istanbul. The dynamic and evolving character of the collection is illustrated by
its photography branch, with artists such as Robert Mapplethorpe, Sebastião Salgado, Ahmet Ertuğ, Ola
Kolehmainen, Edward Burtynsky and Thomas Ruff.
Perili Köşk became the headquarters of Borusan Holding in 2007 and is certainly one of the most interesting
examples of civic architecture along the Bosphorus with its unique location in Baltalimanı. This exquisite
location contributes to laying the foundations for an art platform which allows the Borusan Contemporary
Art Collection, with its roots going back to the 1980s, to adopt an experimental approach. By mutually
reinterpreting the two different institutional identities, the collection and the temporary exhibitions, Borusan
Contemporary serves the purpose of internalizing the creative power of art at Perili Köşk. These two
identities, not easily or immediately understood at first glance, might be summarized as the coexistence
of two notions of reality in one heart. Functioning as an exhibition space with creative artworks during the
weekends and as an active office space during the week days, Borusan Contemporary is an extraordinary
model and a laboratory for experiencing a lifestyle symbiotic with contemporary art. The corporate collection
prioritizes examples of New Media Art including photography, video and light art which is the departing
point for the SEGMENT exhibition series, the selection for which will be renewed every three months. This
brochure aims at introducing the viewers to the artworks on each floor which can be interpreted in different
ways and under different conceptual frameworks.
