HELPING HANDS AWARDS<br />
Recognizing those who count it an honor to serve o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
Individual: JUDITH L. STEWART of Flowers on Main for her zealous support as<br />
a volunteer for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Marshall</strong> Cancer Resource <strong>Center</strong> and healthcare<br />
projects in our community. Judie has displayed exceptional<br />
compassion for serving o<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
Corporate: OB/GYN PHYSICIANS MICHAEL W. JONES, MD AND KENNETH<br />
E. NELSON, MD were <strong>the</strong> leading physicians in support of <strong>the</strong><br />
expansion project for a new birthing center at <strong>Marshall</strong> Hospital.<br />
Their exceptional philanthropic support of charitable causes is<br />
outstanding, and <strong>the</strong>y were recognized for being devoted friends of<br />
<strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation and its programs.<br />
TOY Award: KEVIN ARNOLD, Foundation Trustee of <strong>the</strong> Year, was awarded<br />
<strong>the</strong> opportunity to direct $2,000 to healthcare locally. Kevin<br />
chose to honor <strong>the</strong> memory of Brian McNatt by funding <strong>the</strong> new<br />
Testicular Cancer Awareness Fund at <strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation in<br />
recognition of Brian’s valiant and courageous fight with cancer.<br />
We salute Kevin for his passion for healthcare services and <strong>the</strong><br />
community served as a <strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation board member.<br />

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS<br />
The Nonprofit Partnership,<br />
spearheaded by <strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation,<br />
brought a group of twelve healthrelated<br />
nonprofits toge<strong>the</strong>r to raise<br />
funds through employee campaigns<br />
with large employers. In addition,<br />
local educational resources were<br />
achieved for nonprofit leaders through<br />
<strong>the</strong> Association of Fundraising<br />
Professionals (AFP) and <strong>the</strong> largest<br />
CEO training network, Vistage.<br />
The “Employees for a Healthier<br />
Community” campaign kicked off at<br />
<strong>Marshall</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>Center</strong> with <strong>the</strong> goal<br />
of raising $120,000 bringing essential<br />
funding for needed services to our<br />
healthcare community.<br />
Respiratory Home Care Services<br />
began with a $130,000 legacy gift from<br />
<strong>the</strong> Clay Dieckmann estate, in memory<br />
of Helen Dieckmann. Now respiratory<br />
patients will find hope in coping with<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir disease and receive care in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
homes (a service not covered by<br />
Medicare). The program is paid for by<br />
<strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation and operated by<br />
Partners In Care.<br />

Employees at <strong>the</strong> “Employees for a<br />
Healthier Community” campaign kick off<br />
FREE Mammograms and Cancer<br />
Services continued this year solely<br />
due to community support for this<br />
program, especially from <strong>the</strong> Threads<br />
of Life Quilt Auction, 18 Hole Ladies<br />
Group from Cold Springs Golf and<br />
Country Club, Judy Pickett, June<br />
Combellack and The Little Give event.<br />
FREE Sudden Loss Grief Support,<br />
now in its sixth year continues to<br />
provide weekly share sessions for<br />
those who are walking <strong>the</strong> journey<br />
of grief. Enthusiastic supporters<br />
include Skip and Judy Kelly and <strong>the</strong><br />
Soroptimist of Cameron Park.<br />
<strong>Marshall</strong> Golden Club supported by<br />
Robinson’s Pharmacy continues to<br />
expand resources for adults over 50.<br />
From notary services and a yearly<br />
pocket calendar to bedside meals<br />
when your spouse is hospitalized, this<br />
vital health program provides resources<br />
and education for older adults.<br />
LEARN HOW YOU CAN LEAVE A LEGACY<br />
An extensive interactive user-friendly planned giving guide is now available online providing our neighbors with information on how to<br />
leave <strong>the</strong>ir own legacy. The web address is: www.marshallfound.org. Currently, twenty-five future gifts are designated through wills, trusts,<br />
life insurance and o<strong>the</strong>r planned giving vehicles currently totaling $953,632. Seventeen donors have not specified <strong>the</strong> amount of <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
