President John Driscoll, a native<br />

of California, joined <strong>the</strong> Foundation<br />

Board in 2005 and became active in<br />

finance, planned giving and strategic<br />

planning for <strong>the</strong> organization. He received<br />

his Bachelor of Arts Degree in<br />

History from UCLA, and earned a Juris<br />

Doctor Degree from <strong>the</strong> University of<br />

San Diego School of Law, graduating<br />

Magna Cum Laude in 1969. He has<br />

received numerous American Jurisprudence<br />

awards, published articles<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Law Review and became its<br />

Managing Editor, and received <strong>the</strong><br />

distinguished Appellate Advocacy<br />

Award for Best Brief in Annual Moot<br />

Court Competition. John moved to<br />

Placerville in 1970 and was <strong>the</strong> Assistant<br />

District Attorney in <strong>the</strong> early<br />

70’s. In 1974, John went into private<br />

practice with an emphasis on real<br />

property, business law, civil litigation<br />

and estate planning. He became <strong>the</strong><br />

Placerville City Attorney in 1989 and<br />

Placerville City Manager/Attorney in<br />

2000. John and his wife Pam, who is<br />

a teacher at Charles Brown School,<br />

have been married for 41 years. They<br />

have two grown sons, Jeff and Matt.<br />

Jeff lives in Carmichael and Matt in<br />

Jackson, Wyoming. John’s activities<br />

include camping and skiing and Pam<br />

enjoys quilting.<br />

Vice President Gordon Mott<br />

came to El Dorado County in 1959. For<br />

<strong>the</strong> past 32 years he and his wife Guadalupe<br />

have operated Gordon Mott<br />

Roofing Co., Inc. Gordon joined <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Marshall</strong> Foundation in 2002, served as<br />

<strong>the</strong> chair of <strong>the</strong> Planned Giving team<br />

and previously served as Secretary of<br />

<strong>the</strong> Foundation. He has also served on<br />

<strong>the</strong> board of <strong>the</strong> El Dorado Builder’s<br />

Exchange. Gordon and Guadalupe<br />

have two daughters (Genelle and<br />

Christina), one grandson and one<br />

granddaughter.<br />

Secretary Chief George Nielsen<br />

has been a resident of Placerville<br />

for <strong>the</strong> past 21 years and joined <strong>the</strong><br />

Foundation Board in 2005. George is a<br />

graduate of <strong>the</strong> University of Virginia,<br />

FBI National Academy and holds a<br />

California POST Executive Certificate.<br />

He became <strong>the</strong> Placerville Police<br />

Chief in 2004. George has 25 years<br />

experience as a police officer with 21<br />

years employment at <strong>the</strong> Placerville<br />

Police Department. He is President<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Board for New Morning Youth<br />

and Family Services and he serves on<br />

<strong>the</strong> El Dorado Western Slope Boys and<br />

Girls Club Board. In addition, George<br />

is <strong>the</strong> Secretary for <strong>the</strong> Placerville Masonic<br />

<strong>Center</strong> Association<br />

Board and also<br />

serves as a Board<br />

Member for <strong>the</strong> Sierra<br />

Law Enforcement<br />

Chaplaincy. George<br />

and his wife Sue have<br />

one son. George is a<br />

lifelong horse owner<br />

and trainer as well<br />

as western history<br />

enthusiast.<br />

Treasurer Edna<br />

Knutsen moved to<br />

El Dorado County in<br />

1997 from <strong>the</strong> bay<br />

area after retiring<br />

from corporate<br />

life. She joined <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Marshall</strong> Hospital Auxiliary in 1998 and is<br />

still an active member. She has served<br />

as past president of <strong>the</strong> Auxiliary as well<br />

as <strong>the</strong> Placerville Shakespeare Club.<br />

She joined <strong>the</strong> Foundation Board in 2002<br />

and currently sits on every committee<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Foundation. She served as <strong>the</strong><br />

Foundation’s secretary for one year and<br />

treasurer for <strong>the</strong> past six years. Edna’s<br />

husband, Neil, is also an active member<br />

of <strong>the</strong> hospital auxiliary. They have four<br />

children, eight grandchildren and one<br />

great grandson.<br />
