Initial Installation
• Ensure that the shorting connector is firmly in place on the laser power
connector.
• Inspect all cables and connectors for bent or broken pins and broken
wires.
• Check packing list to ensure that all items are present.
2.2 Identifying Components
The following components, along with any options, should always be
included in your shipment.
1. 58 Series green DPSS laser head. There are several different models.
Check the factory label on the laser head and the final test data sheet to
determine that you have received the correct unit.
2. Model 58 PSM 290 Power Supply. Check the setup label on the
bottom of the unit to verify that you have the correct supply for the
laser head.
Power supplies are programmed for specific laser heads. Power supplies
and laser heads are not interchangeable. Using the incorrect power supply
with a laser head may cause severe and permanent damage to the laser.
Such damage is not covered under the Melles Griot warranty.
3. Power cable (permanently attached to the laser head).
4. Signal cable (permanently attached to the laser head).
5. Shorting connector. This connector is installed on the power cable
(item 3) to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). If this
connector is not firmly in place when the system is unpacked, contact
the factory immediately.
6. Power cord (US shipments only).
7. Final Inspection Data Sheet. This document shows the laser
performance and quality checks at the factory, prior to shipment.
8. Operator's manual.
9. Keys (two). These are used to operate the power supply.
In addition to the items mentioned above, which should be included in
every shipment, the following accessories may have been ordered. For
more information about these accessories, see Appendix B.
• 58 ASG XXX collimator (for 58 GSS and 58 GLS series)
