Materials: snow, large cardboard box, scissors, paint and markers (optional)
Players: at least two to six players
How to Play:
Cut holes of varying sizes out of the cardboard box to make a target (or - cut the holes
in order to make a pattern, such as a bulls-eye). Feel free to decorate the box with paint,
markers, and anything else you can think of.
Now bundle up warmly, and take your box outside. Find a place to put your “target” so
that you can stand about six to twelve feet away. Then mark this standing line with
a stick or a string, or simply draw a line in the snow!
Have each player make three snowballs. Pay attention to what size you make them,
because you will want them to fit through the holes of the target!
Take turns standing on the standing line and throwing the snowballs into the holes of the
target!
Another option for older children is to assign points to each hole and keep track of how
many points each player has. See who can score 20 points first!
Sledding snow target
Materials: sleds, sledding hill, snow, buckets
Players: small to large groups
How to Play:
Set up buckets (open side up) along the path of your favorite sledding hill. Then each
player should make two snowballs per trip down.
Each team will take turns sending a player down the path on the sled. While the player
is going down the hill, he/she will try to land a snowball in a bucket.
If the snowball hits a bucket, that team receives one point. If the snowball actually lands
in the bucket, then that team receives two points.
Play until a team reaches the predetermined score!
Try this: Be creative, and come up with other ideas for targets!
