Hello Neighbors,
I can’t believe how time flies. I can remember
bringing each one of my children home from the
hospital. Of course, Justin didn’t come home as
early as the other two, but I can remember dragging
Johnnie, age 2, to the hospital again and this time bringing Justin home. Johnnie said,
“Is this the day, mom” I said yes! He said, “Do I have to share my toys” That was
18 years ago. Now, Justin is graduating, Johnnie is turning 20 this month, a junior in
college, and Jessica turns 16 on the 9th. Where did the time go
I can remember everyone telling me, the older you get, the faster TIME FLIES!
Boy, that is not a joke. It seems like we get a magazine out, and it is time to deliver
again. I am certainly ready to slow down a little. Rush here, rush there. I know God
did not intend on us rushing our lives away. (Ok, here is where I had to stop and rush
to get my daughter.)
Psalm 131 says,
“My heart is not proud, LORD, my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.
But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content. (NIV)
Basically, slow down and be content with what God has offered us daily. Do
not concern yourself with things that do not matter, but enjoy today. This is very
hard for me. I am always rushing around, and I usually miss out on the beauty God
has created around me. As Christians, we need to understand that God is still in
control. Rushing things can sometimes lead to poor judgment, and lead us into bad
decisions. Swiftness is one of the characteristics of sin in the Scripture. Whether it is
the adulterous woman in Proverbs 7 who runs to a young man or the depiction of the
wicked rushing to shed blood, “my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on
their paths; for their feet rush into sin, they are swift to shed blood.” – Proverbs 1:15-16
(NIV)
There is an urgency that sin thrusts upon us. Sometimes it is better to purposely
wait, and pray about it. God did not intend on us to remain idle, but He also did not
intend on us to rush the days He has freely given us. My hope for you is that you take
time today to stop and smell the roses.
Sincerely,
Raina C. Troxell
