Introducing the
TRAINING &
FOster care CENTER
The PAWS Chicago Training & Foster Care Center
supports a roster of programs, services and resources
designed to enrich and engage the community in the No
Kill mission. The additional space will host a variety of
training programs, workshops and special events. It will
also allow us to expand our foster program by serving
as a second pick-up location for foster volunteers.
Volunteer Workshops
PAWS offers a variety of volunteer
opportunities and provides training
for each unique program. Orientations
and hands-on training courses are
designed to give volunteers the sense of
connection and resources they need to
be successful PAWS volunteers.

FOSTER care center
Community is critical when it comes
to saving more lives. This Lincoln Park
location will serve as a hub for placing
special needs animals into temporary
foster homes. Having this location
convenient to the PAWS Chicago
Lincoln Park Adoption Center will give
us the much-needed bandwidth to
expand the Foster Care Program, and
thereby, increase the number of animals
we can save.

dog TRAINING Classes
Lincoln PARK LOCATIONS
C Polite & Playful Puppy Class
Designed for puppies 10 weeks to five-months-old,
this class ensures young students become happy,
healthy, polite and housebroken. Throughout this
course, you will develop a strong and healthy bond
with your new puppy by focusing on three key
areas: basic obedience, manners and socialization.
C Level 1: Basic Obedience and
Manners
For dogs (5+) and handlers who need to start at
the beginning, this class teaches the basic skills: sit,
down, stand, stay, come, watch, touch and leave it,
while exploring the use of markers in training. The
handler learns how basic cues can help with good
manners and proper leash walking.
C Level 2: Intermediate Obedience
With an emphasis on teaching reliable responses
in distraction, exercises are designed to increase
focus on basic skills. New concepts, such as
heel, finish and long leash distance work will be
introduced.
C Level 3: Canine Good Citizen
This class is designed to teach and test your
training skills in real life situations and provide
further intellectual stimulation for your dog.
Dogs with a solid education are a joy to live with.
They respond to household routines, have good
manners in the presence of people and other dogs
and can generalize good behavior in a variety of
environments.

PAWS Chicago Puppy and Dog Training Classes
Create a strong and lasting bond with your best friend by enrolling your puppy
or dog in a PAWS Chicago training class. From puppies just learning to sit, to
experienced obedience students looking to advance their competitive skills,
our expert trainers will help your dog reach his or her fullest potential.
C Canine Nose Work
This fun canine sport will teach you how to
encourage and develop your dog’s amazing sense
of smell and natural desire to hunt by sniffing and
locating a scent or odor target. This class will boost
your dog’s confidence because it is mentally and
physically stimulating and rewarding.
C Agility
Agility class builds confidence, is mentally
stimulating and a great form of exercise. It's also
a fun way to build a working relationship between
you and your dog. Work with your dog to learn how
to navigate tunnels, dog walks, teeters and jumps,
and learn to weave through poles.

C Tails and Trails
Perfect for city dwellers, ‘Tails and Trails’ will take
place outdoors and focus on leash walking. Dogs
will go on a supervised group walk weekly with an
instructor who will provide tips on proper leash
handling to insure a safe and controlled experience.
C The Family Dog
Offering solutions for everyday problems that may
occur in the home, this class will help adopters
teach their dogs good house manners such as
settling on a bed, proper introductions to guests
and children, setting up a structured household and
proper socialization techniques.
