Where Are They Now?
PAWS Chicago has the privilege of getting to know and care for thousands of homeless animals
every year. Some are with us for several days. Others call PAWS home for a few weeks. And every
so often there are those who need us for a bit longer. We mend their bodies, restore their spirits
and rejoice in the process of sharing their journeys. Here are their stories.
OSCAR
You might remember Oscar. He
found his way to PAWS Chicago
during the cold, harsh days of
December after a sanitation worker
found him in a city dumpster. But
this handsome three-year-old
didn’t let his past get in the way of
finding a family to love.
HONEYBEE
(PAWS NAME, Justice)
For more than a year, Justice
called PAWS Chicago home.
And that’s because this
three-year-old cat needed
to find the right adopter to
help her with a condition
that causes her eyes to
water. Luckily for her, she
found that in Gretchen.
MARCIE
Marcie was at the city pound when
we found her and was so charming –
with her wonderful spirit and
gorgeous smile – that she quickly
won the hearts of everyone who met
her. Her manners, however, needed
some work so that a potential family
could see all of her terrific qualities.
After a year of training and foster
families, who helped reinforce her
new skills, Marcie kicked off 2014
with a permanent home and
a family of her own.
DIAMOND
Diamond lost her home
because of a treatable
skin condition that was
too much for her owner
to manage. She spent
more than a year with us;
healing and rediscovering
the spring in her step in the
comfort of a foster home.
Today Diamond is a happy
and healthy member of a
new family.

Oscar turned out to be the best
Christmas gift we’ve ever received.
He is well behaved, has a lot of energy and enjoys interacting with us
in all activities. Other people think he is a puppy! Oscar loves to be
held and petted and played with, and we are eager to oblige. He has
just started obedience school and has charmed his instructor with his
personality, if not his performance. We feel that we are now a part of

I LOVE my
Honeybee! She is my constant
companion and will never pass up a
good lap to lounge on. Every night,
she sleeps snuggled up close to me.
She is also very friendly to all of my
guests and playful too. Honeybee has
had some health concerns that have
definitely kept me on my toes. She is
a cat who will always require extra
vigilance when it comes to her health.
No matter, I would adopt her all over
again. She is just the best.”

Life has been full of adventures
since we welcomed Diamond into
our family. She has lots of energy and loves to play
fetch at the dog park. She thinks she is a lap dog no matter
how awkward the space. She is such a wonderful, playful,
loving dog who has been a great addition to our lives. She is
so special to us. I’m so glad that PawS found her and that
ultimately we did, too!”

Marcie has been a great addition to
our family! We have really enjoyed taking her on long walks,
baths at the “dog wash” and cuddling with her on the couch. The day
I adopted her, I really saw how much everyone at the Adoption Center
cared about Marcie by all the tears, well-wishes and goodbyes she
received. You could tell she had a wonderful home during her stay at
PawS. We are so happy to have her as a part of our family now and look
forward to all the adventures ahead!”
