Chicago, Keri Buscaglia works daily to lead
her team in helping educate and engage the
public in the No Kill mission. Being able to
focus daily on two passions – storytelling and
animal welfare – is not a job but a gift.
Melissa Forman
Melissa Forman is the co-host of “You & Me This
Morning” on WCIU TV. Her career spans both
radio and television and she is the first woman in
the country to simultaneously host both a show in
the morning and in the afternoon drive. She has
also helped raise more than $500,000 for local
charities, including PAWS Chicago.
Brian Damato
Brian Damato volunteers his time in
many ways including our Gold Star
program featured in this issue. He also
captures images of PAWS Chicago’s
life-saving efforts at the Adoption Center
and special events.

Inspired by the motto “give back more than
you receive,” Susanne Champ channels her
writing and marketing experience to give back
and help homeless pets at PAWS Chicago.
Dr. Robert Dann, DVM
Dr. Robert Dann, DVM has practiced
veterinary medicine in Chicago since
graduating from the University of Illinois.
He is the Director of Blum Animal Hospital
and is pictured with Moose.
Billy Dec
Billy Dec is not just a supporter of PAWS Chicago, but
an Emmy Winning TV Personality and Restaurateur in
Chicago; Rockit, Sunda, Underground, AY CHIWOWA,
Rockit Burger Bar and the newly opened, Bottlefork.
He can be seen on several weekly entertainment
segments on ABC TV’s “Windy City Live” and KISS FM’s
“The Weekly Show” featuring philanthropic events.
Alexis Fasseas
Alexis Fasseas is Editor-in-Chief of
PAWS Chicago magazine and helped
found PAWS Chicago in 1997. She is
a member of the Illinois Bar, but her
career is focused on strategy and
management in the business sector.

Julie Mazzola
Julie Mazzola is the Marketing Manager for PAWS
Chicago and Senior Editor of PAWS Chicago
magazine. As an advocate for homeless pets, she
dedicates each day to providing a voice for those
who need it most. And in her free time, she serves
the lavish demands of her beloved cat, Clover.
Dr. Barbara Royal, DVM, CVA
Dr. Barbara Royal is a nationally published writer
and international lecturer whose own practice, The
Royal Treatment Veterinary Center in Chicago, is
a center for Complementary Veterinary Medicine
and Physical Rehabilitation. She has just published
a new book, The Royal Treatment: A Natural
Approach to Wildly Healthy Pets
Jeanne Sparrow
Jeanne Sparrow is the co-host of “You & Me
This Morning” on WCIU TV. In addition to
being an avid PAWS Chicago supporter, she
is a multi-talented media performer and an
Emmy Award-winning television program
host and reporter, a voice-over artist and toprated
and award-winning radio personality.
Caroline Ziv
At age six, Caroline Ziv announced to her mother that
she was marrying a cat. While she never married a
cat, she currently cohabitates with two of them. A
producer at Oprah for more than ten years, Caroline
worked on many animal-centric shows, including a
groundbreaking expose on puppy mills. She now has
her own production company, Big Red Bike Media,
in Chicago, and opens her home to foster kittens for
PAWS Chicago.

Caitlin Lisa Photography
Caitlin Lisa, who shot the photos for our
feature with Billy Corgan, wears many hats at
PAWS Chicago. When she isn’t orchestrating
details as a Special Events Associate, she can
be found taking pictures that capture her true
passion for animals and the No Kill mission.
