EuCheMS Career Days –
Making Chemistry Work
for You
The European Young Chemists Network (EYCN) and the Career
Service of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh)
would like to invite you to the Career Days events. The Career
Days are open to all registered participants in the EuCheMS
Congress without further registration. Follow the signs with
the rabbit!
Science Speed Date,
Monday, August 27, 19:00 – 21:00
(Forum Hall foyer, 1 st fl oor)
Career Days will begin on Monday evening with “Science
Speed Date”, where students and doctoral candidates can
get together with scientists from universities, companies
and scientifi c organisations to catch up valuable information
about jobs, grants and services for young scientists. Students
and doctoral candidates, looking for a postdoc position or
a job in a company or young scientists interested in grants
or an international career are warmly invited. Not only jobs
on offer at research institutes and companies will be posted,
but you will have the chance to talk to representatives from
companies and scientifi c organisations.
Scientists and Company representatives, that want to fi ll
a trainee, a doctoral or a postdoc position, are invited to bring
their job available ads to be posted on poster boards. Over
a glass of beer and a snack you can establish contact with
young chemists and inform them about the company or
institute and the vacant position.
Making Chemistry Work for You,
Tuesday, August 28,
and Wednesday, August 29
(Club D)
The multi-faceted Career Days programme continues
on Tuesday and Wednesday with lectures on:
• How to write scientifi c articles
• Tips and tools for successful grant proposals
• Ethics in Chemistry
• And more …
Special Symposium –
The Future of Chemical
Synthesis (Green/Sustainable
Chemistry and Continuous
Flow Processes)
Wednesday, August 29, 2012, 9:00 – 13:00
(Charles University)
A short course – in association with the EuCheMS Green
and Sustainable Chemistry Working Group and the Flow
Chemistry Society
Please not the course is not held in the Prague
Congress Centre
Venue: Charles University
(address: Hlavova 2030, Prague 2, 15 min walk
from the Congress Center)
Opening remarks:
Prof. Pietro Tundo
Chairman of the EuCheMS Green/Sustainable Chemistry
Working Group
Prof. Ferenc Darvas
Chairman of the Flow Chemistry Society
Tutors:
Prof. Luigi Vaccaro
(Università degli Studi di Perugia, Italy, EuCheMS Green
and Sustainable Chemistry WG)
Dr. Kaspar Koch
(FutureChemistry, The Netherlands, Flow Chemistry Society)
Dr. György Dormán
(ThalesNano, University of Szeged, Hungary, Flow Chemistry
Society)
This short course is designed to provide the attendees
with an overview of the future of chemical synthesis with
a realistic vision that green and sustainable chemistry
which is a challenge of the modern ages would became
the prominent principle and practice for the next century
integrating novel innovative technologies that helps to fulfi l
its mission such as process intensifi cation and continuous
fl ow processes. During the course tutors provide a deep
understanding of the principles of sustainability/green
chemistry together with theoretical and practical approaches
which realize such principles in chemical synthetic design and
accomplishment through case studies including an overview
of Green Chemistry metrics with their applications and
of fundamentals of continuous fl ow synthesis. While Green
Chemistry is the future synthesis paradigm Flow Chemistry
represents the next generation technological approach
to process intensifi cation. Continuous fl ow devices and
