<strong>Application</strong> for Community Legal Services Placements<br />
These placements are made possible through the combined efforts <strong>of</strong> PBSC and CLS. Students will be hired by PBSC but<br />
will operate under a CLS supervisor. Please note that these placements run from October until April. Students may be<br />
expected to do a limited amount <strong>of</strong> work during the months <strong>of</strong> December and April. Reporting requirements apply and<br />
monthly meetings will be scheduled. Each team will also have a mandatory training session. Only respond to sections for<br />

Workshops<br />
<strong>Description</strong><br />
The community workshops are a Public Legal Education program and a joint initiative between CLS<br />
and PBSC. Volunteers will be responsible for delivering presentations containing legal information to<br />
various community organizations across London. Our audience for community workshops will vary<br />
based on the particular organization we serve. Some workshops will be delivered to front-line staff<br />
members at service organizations, while some will be delivered to the clients <strong>of</strong> our partner<br />
organizations. Volunteers will use pre-written scripts provided by CLS on topics that include access<br />
to justice, consumer protection laws, criminal law, and housing.<br />
Volunteers must be available for a mandatory training session on September 24, 12:30-2:00pm.<br />
Volunteers must also be available for approximately 3 additional meetings throughout the year during<br />
the open period, to be scheduled based on need and availability.<br />
Each volunteer will conduct 3-5 workshops per semester in teams <strong>of</strong> two or three (1-2 hours each<br />
plus travel and preparation time). Workshops will be assigned based on availability and interest.<br />
Volunteers must also commit to completing workshop summary sheets and time logs, as well as<br />
maintaining regular communication with the PLE coordinators.<br />
The most important qualifications are an interest in social welfare law, and interest in public speaking<br />
and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism. Relevant experience is an asset. No prior knowledge <strong>of</strong> social welfare law is<br />
