THE CANAL 5K
Once again it's time for the annual 5K in
Courtwood. The event starts at 11am on 2nd June
(today) from the local GAA grounds, will offer a
lovely scenic walk or run over 5K along a beautiful
canal side route. The start and finish will offer
toilets and changing facilities and there is loads of
parking. Top class hospitality guaranteed after the
race with tea/coffee/sandwiches for all. Prizes in
all categories to the value of €600 in total will be
presented immediately after the run and the local
family fun day will follow for the afternoon so it's an
ideal opportunity to get out for a bit of exercise
early in the day and then enjoy the atmosphere for
the rest of the day.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Portarlington Boy’s
National School on their recent success.
The boys were awarded the most active
school in Laois / Offaly during Active
Schools Week and were awarded €1,000 to
spend on sports equipment. The school
were involved in hockey, boccia, hurling,
football, soccer, cricket, golf, badminton,
swimming, athletics, céilí, table quiz, fun
Friday, cic fada, and penalties against the
Principal. The school was praised for their
inclusiveness. Well done on a wonderful
achievement.

County Council to represent Laois in the All
Ireland Pride of Place Competition. Judging

takes place on Wednesday June 12 th at 8pm
in the Community Centre. We ask for at
least one member of your Committee to

PORTARLINGTON TIDY TOWNS
In preparation for the National Tidy Towns
Competition, Portarlington Tidy Towns
Association will hold a weekly clean up
throughout the summer months. These
clean-ups will happen every Tuesday from
7-8 pm and will focus on a particular area in
our town. Your support for these clean-ups
is invaluable. We would also appreciate it if
you would keep you area clean as judging
commences this month. The next clean up
will take place on Tuesday next 4th June
from 7- 8pm meeting at the Kilnacourt
Roundabout.
