Who is your favourite dressage rider
1 of all times?
“I do not have a favourite rider. I admire
a lot of riders for different things. I do not
focus on one person. Obviously Carl Hester
has always been my idol. He is someone I
have always followed since I was very young.
I love his methods. But there are lots of
inspiring people in the world.”
2What is the biggest eye-opener your
trainer has taught you?
“Carl Hester is my trainer for many years
now. I think that we have a very good system
with our training. And most importantly,
our horses are happy horses. They enjoy
what they do but also get time to have their
relaxation.”
3How would you describe the character
of your current competition horse?
“Valegro has got a heart of gold. He really
tries in his work so hard. But in his stable
he is quite grumpy. He is the sort of horse
that is only interested if you have got food.
If you have food, he is your best friend. If
you do not have food, he does not want to
know you, haha!”
4If you could have a superpower, what
would it be?
“I have to think about that because there
are so many. Being invisible would be my
favourite I guess. Then I would just put
on my Harry Potter coat on, walk past all
the journalists and go straight back to the
stables.”
5What was your most favourite holiday
so far and what did you do?
“Being in New Zealand. I was there for
three weeks. I have some friends there and
I did some teaching. I love it there. It is the
only place I go and do not want to go home.
Me and Valegro are going to retire there
one day, riding on the beach.”
