Who is your favourite dressage rider
1 of all times?
“My favourite rider is Klaus Balkenhol. He
is a real legend in German dressage. Besides,
he is an Olympic rider and coach and was
involved in the writing of many books about
the sport. I learned a lot from him, as he is
my coach.”
2What is the biggest eye-opener your
trainer has taught you?
“There have been some ‘magic moments’
but I think the biggest eye-opener was when
I learned to feel how much you can ask from
your horse. I learned to feel how to go to the
limit but not to go over the limit. But also to
wait until your horse is ready to do it.”
3How would you describe the character
of your current competition horse?
“He really is the best horse ever. He can read
and write! He always wants to give his very
best. He always waits to present himself in
the arena. He knows when it is important or
when there is some leisure time.”
4If you could have a superpower, what
would it be?
“Mmh... Never thought about this... I would
find it interesting to test several things:
flying, endless power, to need no sleep etc.
But in the end I think it’s good to have no
superpower!”
5What was your most favourite holiday
so far and what did you do?
“That is definitely my holiday to South
Africa! We did a safari on horseback. Haha,
that is how much I love horses. I even ride
on holiday. It was amazing to get so close to
all the wild animals and to be somehow a
part of nature. It was magic!”
